The Nevada Women’s Conference Photograph Collection depicts the statewide women’s conference held in June 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The photographs include keynote speaker Gloria Steinem, event organizers, workshops, volunteers, and musical performances.
The Raymond Germain Photograph Collection (approximately 1960-1970) consists of two black-and-white photographic prints of Raymond Germain and one black-and-white photographic print of his wife, Mary Germain. All of the photographs have corresponding negatives.
The Bureau of Reclamation Photographs of the Hoover Dam and Boulder City, Nevada depict the construction of the Hoover (Boulder) Dam and the development of Boulder City, Nevada from 1869 to 1974, with a bulk of the materials dating from 1929 to 1940. The photographs primarily depict the construction operations in Black Canyon, including digging tunnels, pouring concrete, building the power plant, and inspections by Bureau of Reclamation engineers. The photographs also depict Boulder City, including schools, workers, and dormitories. The collection also includes photographs of St. Thomas, Nevada, Lake Mead, Nelson’s Landing, Nevada, and an archaeological excavation near Lake Mohave, Nevada.
The Harry Hayden Whiteley Photograph Collection (approximately 1940-1967) contains photographic prints and one photographic negative depicting buildings, people, and project locations associated with the Las Vegas, Nevada architect Harry Hayden Whiteley. There is also one album containing photographs of contemporary churches compiled by Whiteley between 1953 to 1958.
The Harold Minsky Photograph Collection (1957-1977) contains photographic prints, negatives, and slides collected by Las Vegas burlesque show developer Harold Minsky. Subjects include performers in costume, showgirls, comedians, advertisements for shows, performances, and some of the venues at which Minsky's shows were held, including the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino, the Aladdin Hotel and Casino, and the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Harold Hind Photograph Collection (approximately 1942-1960) contains black-and-white photographic prints with corresponding negatives. The images predominately depict groups of people including Harold Hind and his wife Betty Biggs Hind. The majority are ‘souvenir’ photographs, primarily from the Hotel Last Frontier and the El Rancho Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Central Nevada Historical Society Photograph Collection (1880-1982) contains photographs from central Nevada towns, mines, and railroads. The photographs primarily depict events and mining operations from the early-twentieth century in or around Tonopah, Goldfield, Belmont, Manhattan, Montezuma, and Big Smoky Valley. The photographs also depict the Tonopah & Goldfield Railroad, the Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad, the "Priscilla" nuclear bomb test at the Nevada Test Site, horse-drawn freight carriages, and building construction. Other towns also featured in the collection include Silver Peak, Bullfrog, Rawhide, Ellendale, Columbus, Berlin, Palmetto, Gilbert, Blair, Klondyke, Wahmonie, Diamondfield, Miller's, and Candelaria.
The Horden-Graglia Family Photographs depict the Horden-Graglia Family in Las Vegas, Nevada from 1910 to 1941. The photographs primarily depict Joseph and Frances Graglia and their children John and Anne. The photographs also depict historical buildings, including the Hotel National, the Pair o’ Dice Nite Club, the Union Hotel, and the Las Vegas School. The photographs also include Elinor Horden, who performed as a showgirl in Las Vegas in the 1950s.
The C. C. (Clio Cline) Mobley Photograph Collection (approximately 1911 to 1917) consists of sixteen black-and-white photographic prints with corresponding photographic negatives. The images depict the Las Vegas, Nevada Ranch while the Mobley family leased it from the Union Pacific Railroad during the period. The photographs depict the home, swimming pool, the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort, and orchards and streams on the property.
The Lavinia Tom Myers Photographs, approximately 1945-1962, depict members of the Tom family on the Moapa Indian Reservation in Nevada. There are four images in this collection. The images consist of Tom family members in front of their home and on the surrounding land.
