Abstract

The Chip Mosher Literary Papers (approximately 2005 to 2018) contain copies of mainly short stories written by Las Vegas, Nevada educator, poet, author, and newspaper columnist, Charles Jon "Chip" Mosher. The materials include examples of Mosher's fiction and a copy of The Anarchy of Memories: short fiction featuring Las Vegas icons which includes a chapter written by Mosher entitled "Memories of a Modern Woman in the Modern World." Also included is a copy of America, Please!, an audio disc which contains spoken word poetry and one science fiction short story authored by Mosher. Abstract

The Republican Women of Southern Nevada Political Action Committee Records (2012-2016) contain committee and financial records of the Republican Women of Southern Nevada Political Action Committee (RWSN PAC). The majority of the materials are representative of Priscilla Campbell's time as treasurer of RWSN PAC. Materials include campaign contribution reports, financial statements, meeting agendas and minutes, and souvenir programs for the organization's annual gala.

Thomas L. Morgan Real Estate Development Records

Abstract

The Thomas L. Morgan Real Estate Development Records (1971-1997) relate to commercial and residential real estate development, primarily in Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas and Henderson, Nevada. Materials consist of Hughes Development/Summa Corporation projects including the Hughes Center and Playa Vista in Los Angeles, California, and Summerlin and the Hughes Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are also extensive records related to the financing and development of Green Valley Ranch and Lake Las Vegas, projects Morgan helped develop through his private company, Thomas Morgan & Associates. Also represented are a number of casino-related projects for the Sands, the Frontier, the Landmark, and the Westgate hotel-casinos. Additional materials include general business records, handwritten notes and memoranda, and correspondence; Summa financial papers and forecasts; books on finance and a 1982 Desert Inn Master Plan architectural portfolio.

The Anna and Jo Pitney Personal Papers are comprised of materials documenting the lives of Anna J. Pitney and her wife, Jo Pitney, a long-time Las Vegas lesbian couple. They were together since 1955 and traveled together often. The collectionIt includes correspondence, news clippings, photographs and photograph albums, travel notes, and a memoir of their lives written by Jo.

The UNLV University Libraries Collection on Techatticup Mine (1914-1923) is comprised of administrative and financial records associated with the Techatticup Mine, located in Clark County, Nevada south of Nelson, Nevada. The administrative documents include business reports, prospectuses, and assays. Administrative documents also include foreman reports, insurance records, warehouse inventories, correspondence, and notes relating to equipment, food, employment, and taxes. Financial records include account balances, payroll, purchasing records, statements, bills, receipts, and company vouchers.

It also includes the company's financial vouchers, bills, receipts, and checks.

The Las Vegas, Nevada News Coverage Collection on September 11, 2001 (2001-2002) contains recordings of local television news and radio coverage of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, New York and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. The news coverage was recorded and compiled by UNLV Journalism and Media Studies Professor Julian Kilker to use as research material for examining how mainstream news media covered the attacks.

The El Rancho Vegas Newspaper Clippings (approximately 1990-2004) primarily contains copies of newspaper clippings from 1940 to 1948 on the El Rancho Vegas from the Las Vegas Evening Review-Journal. The collection also includes copies of newspaper clippings on the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino and Club Bingo. The materials in this collection were collected by Joyce Moore for her research as a history graduate student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
