March, Debra, 1953-

Debra March was born November 25, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan. She is one of eight siblings, all of whom attended Catholic school as children and eventually went on to professional careers. March’s father worked for the city of Detroit, then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and was hired by the Clark County School District. March came to Las Vegas for the first time in 1973. Though she left for a couple of years, she eventually settled there and attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), earning an undergraduate degree in anthropology and biology.

Agnes Marshall was born February 4, 1931 and grew up on a farm in Ferriday, Louisiana raised by her grandparents. At the age of 15, Marshall moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with her mother and later found herself settling in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1951.

Ramon Martinez was born in Park City, Utah on March 06, 1935. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1968. He worked at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a professor of engineering.

Mason, Beverly

Beverly Mason was born on October 30th, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mason grew up in West Las Vegas and was part of the school integration movement in the 1970s. She was a industrial hygienest at the Nevada Test Site and worked in the School Community Partnership Office as a program manager.

Mason, Brenda

Brenda Mason was born in Texas and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1960 when she was 11 years old. Her extended family left Texas as a result of pressure from the K.K.K.. Some of her early memories of attending integrated schools in Las Vegas include serving on a panel that discussed the impact of integration in the schools. Because of zoning changes, she attended Western High School in her senior year, and served as class president.

Master, Nancy (Nancy Briggs)

Nancy Master grew up in Greenville in Western Michigan. Her father was in middle management at a refrigerator company and her mother was a librarian and a teacher.

She and her husband Larry and their daughter came to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1980 at the suggestion of Master's uncle, a doctor who had established a practice here. Larry was hired at Roy Martin Junior High, and in February of 1981, Nancy was hired to teach library skills classes at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

McCurdy, Greg, 1961-

Greg McCurdy is a native Las Vegan who was born February 09, 1961 and raised in West Las Vegas, Nevada with his five siblings. Though he was young at the time, he remembers the turmoil of the late 1960s in Las Vegas and the local Civil Rights Movement.

Growing up, McCurdy loved playing baseball but also mowed lawns and worked at the McDonald's restaurant on Bonanza Street. At the age of 22, in 1983, he joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Terry Miller-Newcomb was born at Southern Nevada Memorial Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her grandparents on both sides were Nevada residents, and her mother and father were born in Reno and McGill, respectively. Her younger sister was born at Sunrise Hospital shortly after it opened.
