Shirley Wengert was born on June 11, 1934 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Lottie and Cyril S. Wengert. She married Jack Cherry in 1954, and they divorced in 1973. She later married Lewis H. Shupe, Jr. in 1988. Shirley and Lewis were married until his death on October 15, 2017. As of 2020, Shirley Wengert Shupe lives in California.
Pauleen Foutz was born in Provo, Utah on November 26, 1906. She moved to Pioche, Nevada in 1936 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1940. She was a school teacher, businesswoman, and a genealogist.
Cora Williams was born on December 19, 1930 in Sondheimer, Louisiana to John and Ora Williams. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1952. She was a hotel maid and eventually owned a beauty shop.
Marion D. Bennett, Sr. was born May 31, 1933 in Greenville, South Carolina to a family of eleven. He graduated from Sterling High School and went on to Morris Brown College. After graduating in 1957, he later matriculated at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia where he received a Master of Divinity in 1960. Reverend Bennett came to Las Vegas, Nevada on July 7, 1960 to be the pastor of the Zion United Methodist Church. Reverend Bennett fought hard to get the Equal Rights Commission established in Nevada.
John Foley is the youngest of five sons born on July 18, 1927 to Roger T. and Helen Foley. He attended Fifth Street Elementary School and Las Vegas High School. Foley was a Nevada state senator as well as a lawyer and encouraged the creation of the William S. Boyd School of Law at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Maureen Elise Mackey was born in October of 1943 in Teaneck, New Jersey. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Mary, and later earned her bachelor’s degree and became a high school science teacher. After serving one of several missions to the Congo, she entered medical school in 1971 at the University of Texas. After several years as a respected physiatrist in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mackey returned to school in 1999 to earn her Masters of Divinity degree at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California.
