Orthographic drawings that show a structure as partly an exterior elevation and partly an interior elevation. If only a small portion of exterior is taken away, use "broken-out sections." For smaller, symmetrical objects shown as half exterior and half interior, use "half sections."

It includes plans for the flow of the inhabitants or users of the space, adherence to building codes, environmental factors, and other such concerns. For the discipline focusing more on the aesthetic planning of spaces, prefer "interior architecture (discipline)."
