Karen Walker was born February 18, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She grew up working at her parents’ local restaurant, Hamburger Heaven. She attended community college and graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1985.

Scott Swank grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005 when his wife Heidi Swank was hired at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Judy Goolsby was born in Kennett, Missouri. Her father worked as a bricklayer and moved the family to Texas. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1980 with her husband John Goolsby who had taken a job with Summa Corporation.

Arno Marsh was born in 1928 and grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both of his parents were musicians. Marsh moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1957. He signed on to play with Charlie Ventura at the Thunderbird Hotel and several other hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.

Randy Walker was born in Boulder City, Nevada. He graduated from Brigham Young University in Utah. Walker worked for the Exxon Oil Company in Houston, Texas and then returned to Southern Nevada to work in his first government job as a budget analyst for

Clark County.

Viola Johnson was born October 12th, 1921 in Fordyce, Arkansas. Johnson moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1942 and lived in a tent. During her interview, she describes working conditions for maids and the Culinary Union strikes between 1969 and 1984.

Reed Robert Phelps was born June 1, 1903 in Idaho. He later moved to Southern Nevada where he worked at Blue Diamond Mine. He married Stella Mason in 1927. Phelps passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 1, 1985.
