Bigelow served in the United States Air Force as a surgical nurse. She left the service with a rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She served throughout the United States and even in Vietnam.
Margaret Carnell was born on November 16, 1939 to Elizabeth Von Tobel Zahn and Kenneth Zahn in Las Vegas, Nevada. Margaret is the granddaughter of Ed Von Tobel Sr. and Maril Hameril. She married her husband in Phoenix, Arizona in 1958. She worked in management.
Pam Fogliasso was born July 14, 1944 in Riverside, California. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1954 and attended Twin Lakes Elementary School. Fogliasso married her late husband on July 31, 1977, had two kids, and moved to Pahrump, Nevada to take care of his children and father.
William "Billy" Christ was born on September 10, 1930 in Detroit. He is an accomplished double bass player who has played with big bands. He came to Las Vegas in 1960. Christ worked with Paul Anka, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis, Dean Martin, and Frank Sinatra. As of 2007, he performed weekly at the College of Southern Nevada.
Hughie Mills, Jr. was born March 07, 1924 and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He met Greta Mills in New York and got married in 1954. He achieved a better life through education and perseverance, becoming a library at Columbia University. In 1989, Mills relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, seeing the weather and retirement lifestyle there to his liking.
Lyle Rivera was born November 22, 1942 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1943. He was raised as an only child of a single mother, who was a cocktail waitress at the Golden Nugget Hotel. Rivera distinguished himself within the community as a lawyer and activist. He also held professional careers in both the Attorney General’s and District Attorney’s office.
Lawrence Earl Hawley was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 07, 1929 to Rollo Earl and Margaret Ella Hawley. His family moved to Ely, Nevada in 1931. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1941 and became an attorney. During his interview, he talks about the Hoover Dam and while it was being build.
John E. Erb was born July 16, 1932 in Denver, Colorado. He worked as a geologists in Florissant, Colorado. He also lived in Wyoming, where he and his wife managed a uranium exploration camp for A.E. Humphreys. Erb moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1959 because the construction workers’ conditions were better there than in Wyoming.
Helen Early was born September 03, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1948 after marrying her husband and moving with his business in the city. Her career spanned in secretary work, managing shops and theatres, and being an elementary school teacher’s aide. Early passed away October 15, 2008.
