Basic High School is a magnet high school that is in the Clark County School District. It was one of the first high schools to be established in Henderson, Nevada in 1942. The current principal is Gerald Bustamante. It still exists today and students are able to learn in an International Baccalaureate program. There are a wide range of clubs available including the ever popular Key Club, Bible Club, and Chess Club.
David G. Schwartz is a gaming historian and the Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs at UNLV. He is also a professor and author, having authored a number of history books on gaming. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and earned his bachelor's degree at University of Pennsylvania. After that, he went to UCLA for his Ph.D. in US History. He currently lives in Henderson, Nevada.

Virignia Logan was a resident of Henderson, Nevada who lived in Nevada since 1927. She was born February 7, 1917 in Percel, Oklahoma. Her hu
sband was George Logan, who she had three sons and one daughter with. She died January 24, 2005.

Richard “Rich” MacDonald, Jr. developed MacDonald Ranch, one of the oldest master-planned communities in Henderson, Nevada. Originally from Nevada, Rich’s parents, Richard “Mac” MacDonald, Sr. (1924-2014) and his wife Francis MacDonald (1924-2017), lived in Hawaii for twenty years. After Sam Boyd showed the MacDonalds two square miles of property south of Las Vegas, Nevada, they, along with their son Rich, moved back to Las Vegas and began the development of MacDonald Ranch in the early 1980s.
Ilene Bittle (1936-) was an educator from the Clark County School District, and a life-long resident of Henderson, Nevada. Over the years, she collected assorted memorabilia and visual materials from the old Basic High School in Henderson. Materials included scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, event programs and invitations, newsletters, and other school mementos. She donated this collection to UNLV Special Collections & Archives in 1993. She was also a founding member of Friends of Henderson Libraries.
