The congregation of Second Baptist Church began on February 22, 1942 in the home of Brother and Sister R.H. Robinson on 625 Jackson Street. The initial group included: Brothers Verenette Anderson, Willie Harris, F.W. Wilson, Reverend B.T. Mayfield, Sisters Bessie Mayfield, Lola Hayes, Helen Marie Pope and the Robinsons.
