Robert Vinton Belt was Acting Comissioner for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in the late 1800s and oversaw the construction of the Fort Mojave Indian School in present day Mohave Valley, Arizona. Robert "R. V." was born on December 31, 1842. Belt was comissioned during the Benjamin Harrison presidency and served for three years as Acting Comissioner. After this appointment, Belt continued to serve Native American tribes through his legal work. Robert Vinton Belt passed away March 25, 1910.
