Atkinson, Connie

Musical arranger and bass player Connie (Condit) Atkinson was born New Jersey in 1929. During his high school years he played in various dance bands all over New Jersey. During his four years at South Eastern College he played in small groups and big bands in the state of Louisana. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1970s and worked in several hotel house bands and with small musical groups. He retired to Florida in 1981 and passed away in 2009 in Del Rey Beach, Florida.

Ashbaugh, Don, 1898-1961

"Don Ashbaugh served in both World War I and World War II as a correspondent for Stars and Stripes and as editor of an airbase newspaper. And in between he graduated from the University of Southern California in 1927 and worked on newspapers from Manila to Paris, including nine years in Los Angeles, first with the Los Angeles County News and then with the Los Angeles Times.

In 1934 he joined the publicity department of Paramount Pictures. When World War II broke out in 1941, he joined the army.

Clarke, Rosemary, 1917-2000

Political activist and mental health advocate Rosemary Clarke was born on November 3rd, 1917. A promoter for educational opportunities for the mentally ill and disabled, she held several positions including President of the Clark County Mental Health Association, President of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Nevada Medical Association, and was a member of the Nevada State Board of Education.

Rosemary Clarke passed away on June 13, 2000.

Claxton, Eunice, 1942-

Eunice Claxton was born in 1942 in Tallulah, Louisiana. When she was ten years old, she and her mother moved to Las Vegas, Nevada for a few years. She attended the Westside Elementary School in Las Vegas, but she finished her education in Reno, Nevada. She lived in Reno until 1974 when she returned to Las Vegas. Claxton worked in a number of different establishments. She worked as a change girl at the Desert Inn and as a cocktail waitress at the Dunes Hotel. She also worked at clubs such as the Cover and the El Morocco.

Malone, Mike, 1932-

Former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Mike Malone served as a Republican State Assemblyman for the 4th District from 1979 to 1985. He served on the Judiciary and Education Committees. He then served as State Senator for the 6th District from 1986 to 1990. In the Senate he chaired the judiciary and Legislative Affairs and Operations Committees.
