Steele, Judith Dee (Judith Dee Abrams), 1943-

Judith Steele was born November 14, 1943 in New York City. Steele began her career teaching elementary and middle school in New York and Rhode Island. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1969 and received her Master of Education degree in secondary and adult education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Steele held numerous positions within the Clark County School District (CCSD), including Director of Special Education Programs and Services. She designed CCSD's first individualized education program.

Kim Bavington was born November 30, 1963. In 1964, Bavington's parents moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when she was six months old. Her father was an industrial designer and mother was an art instructor. Kim earned a Fine Art degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas and worked at a sundry of jobs to support herself. She married Tim Bavington in 2000. She worked as a business owner and art instructor.

Fleming, Edmund L., 1915-

Edmund L. Fleming was born October 18, 1915 in Virginia, Minnesota. His parents were born in Ireland. Fleming came to Nevada in the 1930s and worked on a ranch in Pahrump, Nevada. He also worked as a miner, teacher, ranger, and farmer. He lived in Goodsprings, Nevada and Nelson, Nevada. Fleming eventually settled in Las Vegas, Nevada and continued to work in education. He was married in 1941.

Dvorak, Jacque, 1944-

Jacqueline "Jacque" Dvorak was born in London, England July 26, 1944. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1946. Then, in 1953 they moved to the United States, settling in Long Beach, California where Jacque’s brother was born. In 1957, the Dvorak family relocated to Las Vegas when Jacque’s father, Sam, opened a 24-hour barbeque restaurant in Market Town with his brother Harry.

Wilhelm, John, 1945-

John Wilhelm was born on July 08, 1945 to Jane Wilhelm, a teacher, in Virginia. He married Elizabeth Gilbertson, a health care strategist, on February 22, 1969. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. He was the president of UNITE HERE (Union of Needletrades, Industrial, and Textile Employees and Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union).

Bird, Kim Pickering

Kim Bird was born October 18, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1955 and attended Twin Lakes Elementary School. Bird grew up in a Las Vegas that was run by the mob and safe for teenagers. She would meet friends in local hangouts such as the Blue Onion and attend sock hops, babysit, and cruise down Fremont Street. She attended high school with black students and was aware of the segregation that existed on the Las Vegas Strip. Bird was married in 1961 and had a son and daughter.

Garcia, Aquiles, 1927-

Aquiles Garcia was born in January 21, 1927 in Goya, Chaco, Argentina where his grandfather owned half the town. In 1934, Garcia moved with his parents and siblings to Buenos Aires, where he was taken in by his maternal aunt, Esther Larralde de Porta. His aunt was a professor in the Normal School, so he received an excellent education before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. Garcia served four years in the Argentine Army, the last part under Juan Perón.

Richard Steele was born on January 26, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri to Gertrude Grissom, an elevator operator. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1982. He married Gladys Marie Steele in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a retired boxing referee and was in the United States Marine Corps.

Zakeisha Steele Jones was born on March 31, 1975 in Los Angeles, California to Gladys and Richard Steele. She went to Chaparral High School, Howard University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She married Lamare Jones, a union organizer. They have two kids together, Kennedy Chanel Jones and Marley Noelle Jones.

Clancy, Alan

Alan Clancy was born on April 05, 1949 in Sidney, Australia. His parents enrolled him in the Shirley de Paul Studio to learn gymnastics, tap, ballet, and Jazz. Clancy also became a soprano singer. He moved to the Rudas Acrobatic Studio and was eventually contracted by Tibor Rudas to join The Las Vegas Dancers. Clancy went on a 2 1/2 year international entertainment tour with that group. Eventually Tibor Rudas offered Alan a contract to work in the Folies Bergère at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
