Frost Eglington, Earle, 1890-1981

Earle Eglington was born in 1890 moved to Las Vegas in 1911 and married Olive Lake. The couple remained in Las Vegas until the 1980s, witnessing the dramatic growth of the region. Earle died in 1981.

Lake-Eglington, Olive, 1895-1992

An early Las Vegas resident, Olive Lake-Eglington (neé Olive Lake) was born in 1895 in California. In 1904, she moved with her family from Ontario, California to Las Vegas, Nevada in a covered wagon. Eglington's father, Robert E. Lake, was a barber and was also involved in the early civic development of young Las Vegas, for which an elementary school was eventually named in his honor. Olive Lake graduated in the first Clark County High School class in 1913, and soon after married Earle Eglington, who had moved to Las Vegas in 1911.

Ellsworth, Charlotte R. (Charlotte Rowberry), 1912-1998

Weltha Charlotte Rowberry was born in Carston, Albert, Canada on July 11, 1912. She married Elmo Hughes Ellsworth on October 16, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She worked in Las Vegas as a room reservation manager at the Flamingo Hotel from 1950 to 1967, then the Frontier Hotel from 1969 to 1970. After her husband died, she moved to Reno, Nevada where she worked as the room reservation manager for the MGM Grand Reno. She died in Salt Lake City on July 16, 1998.

Emery, Murl, 1903-1981

Murl Emery was born June 07, 1903 in Colton, California. In the 1930s and 1940s, Emery wandered and boated in previously unexplored areas of the Colorado River. During this time, he started a ferry company that brought Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam) workers to construction sites and also gave tours of Cottonwood Cove, a recreation area which he helped develop. Murl Emery passed away in March 1981 at his home in Boulder City, Nevada.
