Abstract
The Lake-Eglington Family Papers (1905-1983) consist of correspondence, school records, newspaper clippings, announcements, and receipts collected by Olive Lake-Eglington, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada from 1904 until the early 1980s. Items of unique interest in the collection include a 1907 temperance pledge and World War Two ration books from 1943.

Biographical / Historical Note
Early Las Vegas, Nevada pioneer, Olive Lake-Eglington was born in 1895 in California. In 1904, she moved with her family from Ontario, California to Las Vegas, Nevada in a covered wagon. Eglington’s father, Robert E. Lake, was a barber and was also involved in the early civic development of Las Vegas. An elementary school was eventually named in his honor. Olive Lake graduated in the first Clark County High School class in 1913, and soon after married Earle Eglington, who had moved to Las Vegas in 1911. The couple remained in Las Vegas until the 1980s. Olive Lake-Eglington passed away in Los Altos, California in 1992.
