Congratulations to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Theta Omega Chapter for
50 years of service to mankind, excellence in promoting higher education and academic
achievement, and assisting young women with attending college and reaching their life goals.
As the nation’s first African-American Greek-letter sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has
blazed trails since 1908. Theta Theta Omega chapter has been just as much a trailblazer in the
southern Nevada community. Theta Theta Omega Chapter’s “Community Impact Days,” such
as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Day,
Alzheimer’s Support activities, Mental Health Awareness Day, and Childhood Hunger
Awareness, have benefitted the community. I have personally participated in your
Thanksgiving Basket program and know that seniors who raise their grandchildren are
fortunate to receive the assistance as they approach the holiday season.
I am honored to acknowledge the outstanding contributions, advocacy, and service that
Theta Theta Omega chapter provides to the Las Vegas community and southern Nevada.
I commend your members and organization for its worthy efforts, public service, and
accomplishments over the years, and for providing a voice for young girls and women. You are
truly making a difference in young women’s lives, as well as the lives of our seniors, teenagers,
and young adults. Your advocacy efforts displayed on AKA Day at the Capitol have left a
positive impression for senators and assembly members alike. Nevada’s legislators now know
that Alpha Kappa women are a force with which to be reckoned. Theta Theta Omega’s tradition
of service in social activism is nothing less than spectacular. For that, you are to be commended.
Best wishes for an enjoyable and engaging 50th Anniversary Scholarship Gala and
