    Program Committee Report- January 15, 2003
    Founders’ Day, 2003
    On Saturday, January 11, 2003, our chapter hosted an outstanding Founders’ Day 2003 at the Monte Carlo Hotel. The 232 sorors and guests present were provided us with an inspiring and challenging message from the 25th Supreme Basileus, Norma Solomon White and extraordinary music and presentations from guest musicians and Founders’ Day Committee sorors. This committee, under the leadership of Soror Quida Brown, is to be commended for such an inspiring day. This committee also arranged for sorors to “do lunch” with Soror Norma on Friday, January 10th.
    Leadership Committee
    The Leadership Committee meeting was held on January 8, 2003, at the Northwest Region Service Center to plan for the Chapter Operations Workshop which is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th, at Desert Pines Golf Course. Activities of the day were planned and duties were distributed to various sorors. The next meeting of this committee will be at 6:00p.m., on Wednesday, January 29th at the Norwest Region Center.
    Advisory Board- NBLIC “Witness Project
    A meeting was held on January 13, 2003 at the home of Soror Dorothy Johnson, to organize the advisory board of the Witness Project of Las Vegas, a health program for African-American women in churches and community centers. Officers of the board include: Joyce Woodson, President, Soror Jacquelyn Caffey, first vice president, Soror Verlia Hoggard, second vice president, Soror Barbara McCants-Hill, Secretary, Soror Billie Rayford, treasuruer, Soror Kaweeda Adams, Parlimentarian/ Chaplin. Soror Dorothy Johnson is the ex-officio member.
    Currently this board is scheduled to meet the second Tuesday, every other month until September.

    Program Committee Report- February 1, 2003
    Founders’ Day, 2003
    On Saturday, January 11, 2003, Theta Theta Omega hosted an outstanding Founders’ Day 2003 at the Monte Carlo Hotel.     Martin Luther King Parade- Thirty-two AKA Teens along with Sorors Donnyss Rucker, Domini Calloway, Amanda Williams, Cashia DeVane, and Katrina Dunn represented Theta Theta Omega in the 2003 MLK Parade on Saturday, January 11th. Thanks to the sorors for spending your time in this special way to promote the Spirit of AKA. .
    Leadership Committee
    The Leadership Committee meetings were held on January 8 and 29, 2003, at the Northwest Region Service Center to plan for the Chapter Operations Workshop which is scheduled from 8:30am - 3:30pm on Saturday, February 15th, at Desert Pines Golf Course. Chairperson Shirley Carroll lead the committee in planning the activities for the day. An exciting program has been planned. All sorors are encouraged to attend and learn about how our chapter is to function.

    AKA Day of Worship-
    Twenty-nine members of Alpha Kappa Alpha worshiped together at the Trinity A.M.E. Church on Sunday, January 19, 2003. Thanks to Sorors Darlene Hancock and Gwendolyn Gates-Barlett this was a very special day of worship. We were honored with special seating in the sanctuary, beautiful pink tea roses with ivy bouquets and a pink and green reception of many fruits and desserts after the service. Thanks to Soror Sandy Stafford for suggesting this special sisterly relations activity.
    Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service 2003 (AKA Signature Program) was held at
    the North Las Vegas Care Center. Twenty sorors from Kappa Xi and Theta Theta Omega participated in assembling and providing gifts bags of toiletries, socks and healthcare items to the 168 residents of North Las Vegas Care Center. The residents were deeply appreciated of our gifts. The day was culminated with a sisterly relations activity, “doing lunch” together.

    Program Committee Report- February 19, 2003- Executive Board MEeting
    Leadership Committee
    An outstanding Chapter Operations Workshop was held on Saturday, February 15, 2003, at the Desert Pines Golf Club. Thirty-four sorors, one of which was from Kappa Xi, were in attendance.
    Sorors were able to participate in unique presentations that included the topics: The Spirit of AKA Progam, Leadership Styles, Chapter Communications, Meeting and Membership Etiquette/Protocol, Officer Duties, Parliamentary Procedures, Member Responsibilities, Financial Procedures, Committee Reports/Chapter Records, Evaluation/Standards, Sisterly Relations, Ways and Means, Constitution/Bylaws, Public Relations, and the Evaluation. The presenters helped us to again recognize the many talented sorors that are a part of Theta Theta Omega.
    Soror Shirley Carroll and the Leadership Committee are to be commended for such an outstanding Chapter Operations Workshop.
    Ways and Means
    The committee is presently finalizing plans for the Mardi Gras Ball which will be held at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino on Saturday, March 1, 2003, 7:00pm -12:00am. Deadline for ads for the souvenir booklet was Sunday, February 16, 2003.
    Ticket money is now due to the committee.
    We are looking forward to a successful event.

    Upcoming Chapter/ Sorority Activities:
    CONNECTIONS
    March 18’2003 -AKA Day at the Capitol, Carson City, Nevada
    Members of the chapter will travel to Carson City on March 17th. On Tuesday, March 18th members of the sorority will provide testimony and will meet with Nevada
    Legislators. The focus is to inform legislators of the great need for health care programs and facilities in the African-American community in Las Vegas.
    Soror Verlia Hoggard, Nevada Connection Chairperson, has been responsible for making arrangements. She has information about hotel reservations, flights, etc.
    We encourage as many sorors as possible to attend this history making event.

    Leadership Committee

    Committee chairs are asked to notify Soror Sharon Savage and Soror Barbara McCants-Hill of meeting dates, times and places. They are also asked to submit record of the meetings held to the anti-basileus responsible for their program.
    Copies of forms to be used to report committee meetings and plans are being distributed to committee chairpersons today at the meeting, There are two examples of the form which can be used to record necessary information at committee meetings.

    Soror Verlia Hoggard, Nevada Connection Chairperson, has assisted in making arrangements. She has information about hotel reservations, flights, etc. We need ten people in order to get a discounted airfare. Today is the deadline for registering.
    Education Task Force
    The Education Task Force will meet fifteen minutes after the close of today’s general meeting. All committee chairs and members are asked to attend. This task force contains two of the Spirit of AKA Signature Programs. It is important that we meet for an update.
    We are also asking for additional committee members.

    THETA THETA OMEGA CHAPTER
    PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT-
    Aprii 5, 2003
    EDUCATION Task Force-
    Met with Task Force which has decided to operate as one committee with subcommittee chairs. Soror Ethel Archibald will direct the Tutorial Program at Kit Carson Elementary School. Sorors are needed to act as tutors. Soror Jacquelyn Caffey will work on establishing a tutoring program in the Henderson Area.
    The Young Authors’ Program will be initiated at Jo Mackie, Charlotte Hill, Frank Kim and M.J. Christensen Elementary and Middle Schools. Sorors Patti Hester and Kaweeda Adams will work on this project. There will be a writing contest between March 31st and April.7th. Topic to be used: “If I were President”. Judging will take place on Wednesday, April 9th at the Clark County School District Educational Center on Flamingo Road, in the Superintendent’s Conference Room.
    CONNECTiONS-
    Twenty-five members of Alpha Kappa Alpha from Theta Theta Omega Chapter and chapters in, San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles attended an intriguing visit to Nevada State Capitol at Carson City, Nevada on Tuesday, March17, 2003 for AKA Day at the Capitol. Monday evening was spent in Reno, Nevada. Soror Billie Rayford conducted a workshop to familiarize attendees with the legislature and the bills being put before the Assembly.
    On Tuesday morning our Far Western Regional Director, Soror Diana Shipley accompanied us as we toured the capitol building , received briefings about legislate committees and how to submit a bill and/or resolution, sat in a session of the Assemby, and had lunch with Assemblymen William P. Williams and Morris Archberry, and Senator Neal. Soror Billie presented our resolution regarding the establishment of a minority health office in Los Vegas to them and other Assemblyman as we toured the building . This was an extremely informative and and productive day.
    NBLiC- Witness Project Board Meeting-
    Attended the board meeting on March 10, 2003. This board is still in the stages of organization. We are working on officers’ duties and by-laws, the board will be presented at the NBLIC Conference on April 17, 2003, at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casino.
    100 Black Men National Conference
    Attended a meeting held by the National Coordinator of Events for 100 Black Men. They will be hosting their National Conference here from June 4-8, 2003, at the MGM Grand Convention Center. They are looking for all types of volunteers to assist with community forums, breakout session and other events during those days. They are also looking for minority owned businesses such as printers, decorators, florists, taxi and limo owners to provide services. Contacting the web site will give you more info

    ARTS AND HUMANITiES-
    Attended meeting at Soror Pendelton’s home. Several cultural events which involve sorors, AKA Teens, and community persons were discussed. Chairperson will give an update on plans.

    The following gives brief over views of the events, meetings, conferences, etc., attended by the Program Chair during the months of July through August 20, 2003
    LEADERSHIP 2003-
    I attended the National Leadership Conference held at the Paris Hotel,: Las Vegas, Nevada. My selection of workshops included: “Program: The Heart and Spirit of AKA”, “Effective Presentation Techniques - Poise and Presence”, Treasure Our Traditions” “Building an Understanding of Sorority Documents”, “Parliamentary Procedure and Meeting Management” All of them provided me with information that will be useful to me in my office.
    National Family Volunteer Day-
    Attended committee meeting held by Soror Amanda McWilliams to begin planning for the National Family Volunteer Day to be held on November T7Jh; Subcommittees have been identified and work is being done to combine this activity with other chapter focuses.
    Education Task Force
    This task force is in the process of formulating our plans for the Signature Programs: Ivy Leaf Academy and Young Authors Program. Soror Kaweeda Adams held a meeting at the CCSD offices on Thursday, August 28th. Sorors Archibald, Caffey and myself worked on timelines, logistics, plans, etc. for the Ivy Leaf Academy. Soror Kaweeda will present a report at the next sorority meeting.

    The following gives brief over views of the events, meetings, conferences, etc., attended by the Program Chair during the months of July and August of 2003:
    LEADERSHIP 2003-

Soror Kaweeda Adams held a meeting at the CCSD offices on Thursday, August 28th. Sorors Archibald, Caffey and myself worked on timelines, logistics, plans, etc. for the Ivy Leaf Academy. Soror Kaweeda will present a report at the next sorority meeting. The Young Authors’ Program has a different timeline, it will be discussed at the next meeting which will be held after the sorority meeting on 9/6/03.
    Program Committee Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 1st. We will plan a suggested program for 2004.

    Program Committee Report- October 3, 2003
    The following is a brief overview of the committee meetings attended by the Program Chair during the month of September of 2003:
    National Family Volunteer Day-
    Attended committee meeting held by Soror Amanda McWilliams on September 16, 2003. Unfortunately, there were no other sorors present for the meeting. Soror Amanda is concerned about committee participation. National Family Volunteer Day is fast approaching.
    Education Task Force
    This task force held the first training program for volunteers signed up to tutor students at the Wendell P. Williams Elementary School on September 16th. Sorors Kaweeda Adams, Ethel Archibald and Jacqueline Caffey presented techniques to use when tutoring students. The Academy will hold its kickoff on Thursday, October 16th, at the school. Additional sorors are needed to act as tutors in this program.
    Program Committee-
    This committee and other committee chairs met to plan the chapter’s program for the 2004 year. Recommended projects/ activities for 2004 are included in this report.
    Other Meetings Attended
    This chairperson also attended meetings of the following committees: Membership, Card Party and Founders’ Day.

    Program Committee Report- December 2003
    During the months of October and November the Program chair has been involved in the following activities:
    National Family Volunteer Day-
    Attended committee meeting held by Soror Amanda McWilliams on October 11, 2003.
    At this meeting various subcommittees were formed to formulate the various activities to occur on this day.
    Education Task Force
    The Ivy Reading Academy is in operation at the Wendall P. Williams Elementary School. Soror Jacquelyn Caffey can still use additional sorors.
    The Young Authors’ Program is going to begin at the end of January. Soror Patti Hester will announce the day and time of her planning meeting.
    Program Committee-
    The program for 2004 has been accepted with corrections. Calendars for December 2003 and January 2004 are being distributed today. Program activities and targets are outlined.
    Other Meetings / Functions Attended:
    This chairperson also attended meetings of the following committees: Founders’ Day, AKAnomics
    Also attended the Cluster in Phoenix, Arizona, Kappa Xi’s Rush and the Membership Intake Weekend for our undergrad chapter, Kappa XI.
