Undergraduate Advisor Report
Over the last month, the women of Kappa Xi Chapter have participated in many on and off-campus events. Some events they sponsored and organized on their own, others were collaborative events with Greek organizations on campus.
•
SkeeWeek was held March 31-April 6. The week included seminars and workshops to educate UNLV students on issues ranging from breast cancer and STD awareness to relationship issues and economic empowerment. The week ended w/ a BBQ where they announced over $135 had been raised that week to donate to the American Cancer Society.
•
On April 9, the chapter participated in a “unity” step with other NPHC organizations in an exhibition held on campus. The step was performed during NPHC’s Unity Fest on UNLV’s campus and included a short display of steppers from each organization.
•
During the week of April 21-26, UNLV sponsored Greek Week to honor and feature all greek organizations on campus. Kappa Xi received awards for their collaborative event Jazzitudes and Soror Ebony Sullivan was awarded the “Outstanding New Member” award.
•
During the last week in April, Kappa Xi members went to dinner and church together and exchanged special gifts with one another. These efforts satisfied the requests of 2nd Supreme Anti-Basileus, Soror Jatisha Marsh, in her call for participation in an Undergraduate Week to build sisterly relations.
•
During the same week, the chapter passed out Cancer Awareness pamphlets on campus as part of the American Cancer Society Awareness week.
•
On April 26, the chapter attended the AIDS Walk joined by Soror Sharon Savage. This national event is held annually to raise money for AIDS research.
This week, they are preparing to end the spring semester and diligently studying for final exams. We will have 1 last business meeting before taking a break for the summer, but have planned sisterly relations activities and committee meetings for the summer.
Kappa Xi is extremely excited to attend Leadership Seminar in July. They are all willing to help TTO with any of the preliminary responsibilities for the seminar.
On August 16, 2003 Kappa Xi will have a Chapter Operations Workshop to get ready for the fall semester. The Graduate Advisor Task Force will ask TTO members to present the workshops to the UG chapter. We gladly welcome the participation of any graduate soror willing to present.
