Dr. Norma Solomon White 25th Supreme Basileus Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Norma Solomon White is a native of Florida where she attended public schools in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her B.S. degree from Florida A & M University, earned her M.A. degree at Columbia University, New York City, attended Julliard School of Music and was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Florida A & M University.
Dr. White’s distinguished career as a teacher and administrator included serving as band director, assistant principal, magnet coordinator and music supervisor in the school district
and program facilitator at the community college. She was the first female
member of the FAMU Marching 100 and the first female to direct the Marching 100 Band.
Dr. White presently serves as National President, Educational Advancement Foundation Board; Vice Chairman, Florida A & M University Board of Trustees; Member, Florida Commission on the Status of Women; Member, United Negro College Fund Board; Member, American Cancer Society Advisory Board and Member, The Links, Incorporated.
Her most recent honors and awards include: 2001 Towers of Education Award, Florida A & M University; 2001 Outstanding Citizen Award, City of Jacksonville; 2001 Woman at the Top of the Game Honoree; Educational Advancement Foundation Green Diamond Award and one of the “100 Most Influential FAMUEANS of the Century”, Florida A & M University.
Dr. White is the first Legacy Supreme Basileus in Alpha Kappa Alpha’s history. During her administration she initiated the first National Program Launch, Leadership Training and Certification Program, “ON TRACK” Signature Program and AKA Coat Day. She held the first International Founders Day with a record number of sorors in attendance at Howard University, January 19,2002.
Dr. White is the daughter of the late Gilbert Solomon and Soror Ruth C. Solomon. She has one son, Marcel and one granddaughter, Danielle. She was initiated in Beta Alpha Chapter and is presently a member of Gamma Rho Omega Chapter. She is a member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church.

Prior to our Founders' Day Luncheon on 2-7-04 at the Golden Nugget, we are having a Reception and Rededication Ceremony on Friday, 2-6-04 at the home of Soror Ouida Brown, 2815 S. Buffalo Dr. Lv, Nv. at 6:00 pm. As a soror, I would like to invite you to attend. Our keynote speaker, Vicki Miles La Grange, 10th District Federal Court Judge from Oklahoma City, will be there. We wear white (no pants) for the rededication. I hope you can join us.
