    Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.Theta Theta Omega Chapter Youth In Aviation Inspiration Flight Report March 3, 2001The Inspiration Flight was a huge success! Theta Theta Omega members were responsible for getting thirty-four students on the flight tonight. One hundred eighty-two passengers boarded the flight - including other school groups, parents, sponsors, and sorors. Thirteen sorors, Pamela Sands, Jacqueline Brown-Harris, Teri Polite, Allison Palmore, Gwendolyn Gates-Bartlett, Patti Hester, Ethel Archibald, Quin Rivers, Dawn Barnes, Lynette Boggs McDonald, Shirley Barber, Gloria Brown, and Billie Rayford participated in the event. Students and adults were treated to T-shirts, Burger King dinner, a bag of goodies provided by United Airlines, Organization of Black Airline Pilots, and the J. B. Knighten Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen.Thank you to Honey Do Craig Sands, President of the Knighten Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen; Lynda Watson, coordinator of the Inspiration Flight; and the Organization of Black Airline Pilots for inviting Theta Theta Omega Chapter to participate in this wonderful opportunity to introduce students to the world of aviation.A special thank you to Soror Jacqueline Brown-Harris for her assistance with this project.The next activity, the Young Eagles Flight, is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2001 in Jean, Nevada.     Youth In Aviation Committee: Ethel Archibald, Dawn Barnes, Jacqueline Brown-
    Harris, Gwendolyn Gates-Bartlett, Patti Hester, E. Lavonne Lewis, Lynette Boggs-
    McDonald, Amanda McWilliams, Grace Mills, Carolyn Parks, Terri Polite,ITina Rimmey,
    Quin Rivers, Pamela Sands, Sharon Savage, and Diane Stith.
    If smiles and laughter are a measure of success, Sorors Amanda McWilliams, Carolyn
    Parks,* Billie Rayford’l Tina Rimmey, Sharon Savage,f and Diane Stith witnessed a
    successful event as 46 children ages 8-15 participated in the Young Eagles Flight on
    Saturday, May 19, 2001 at the airport located in Jean, Nevada. This second phase of
    the Youth in Aviation partnership with the J. B. Knighten Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen,
    Inc. afforded participants an opportunity to experience the joy of flightin two to four seat
    airplanes like a Cessna 172. Thanks to the efforts of Theta Theta Omega Chapter
    members, the children were introduced to prominent African-American members of the
    Nevada aviation community along with pilots and volunteers from the Experimental
    Aircraft Association Foundation that sponsors the Young Eagles Program.
    Students had an opportunity to meet "Honey Do" Craig Sands, President of the J. B.
    Knighten Chapter ofjTuskegee Airmen,T Inc.; fly with Roy Campbell! a pilot with the
    Nevada Civil Air Patrol; converse with Verba Moore, a female Lt. Colonel and doctor
    from Nellis Air Force Base; meet George Sherman, an original Tuskegee Airmart|and
    make new friends with their pilot of the day. Each participant received a certificate of
    participation signed by the pilot and included the model of the airplane for the flight.
    Thanks to the fund-raising efforts of Soror E. Lavonne Lewis, Shearing-Westfield *Eye
    Institute donated $500 towards the purchase of T-shirts for the Young Eagles Flight
    participants. We extend our gratitude to Soror Lavonne and to our new corporate
    sponsor, Dr. Kenneth Westfield for their support. Way to go Soror Lavonne!
    Participants received an excellent list of resources on aviation and the Tuskegee
    Airmen. Soror Grace Mills developed a bibliography of books, videos, and recordings for
    participants to access at their school or neighborhood Clark County Library. A rave
    review goes to Soror Grace for providing the literacy portion of the project.
    Soror Tina Rimmey wins the prize for recruiting the largest number of participants for the
    Young Eagles Flight. She accompanied thirteen children and their parents to the Jean
    Airport for a morning of memorable activities.
    The members of the Tuskegee Airmen and the EAA Organization had only praises for
    the efforts of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. jTheta Theta Omega Chapter. A "BIG"
    THANK YOU to the Young Eagles Flight Committee and all chapter members for your
    endorsement this program. Sorors, YOUR support of this project made it a success.
    FINAL REPORT
    The Youth In Aviation Project was not a 2001 budgeted program. Committee members
    donated in-kind services including transportation for participants, flyers, mailings,
    postage, copy services, photographs and time. A total of 80 children - 34 in Inspiration
    Flight II and 46 in the Young Eagles Flight participated in the events. Soror Lavoone
    Lewis was successful in securing a donation of $500 from DS Kenneth Westfield of
    Shearing-Westfield Eye Institute. The Shearing-Westfield logo was placed on the back
    of the T-shirts. The funds were forwarded to the Soror Ouida Brown, Pecunious
    Grammateus today. The expenses for the Inspiration Flight II held on February 17 and
    Young Eagles Flight held on May 19 totaled $755.80.

    The Inspiration Flight II was a huge success!
    Theta Theta Omega members were responsible
    for getting thirty-four students on the flight tonight.
    One hundred eighty passengers boarded
    the United Airlines 757 aircraft. Students from
    other sponsoring organizations including the
    Clark County School District, Girls and Boy
    Scout Troups, and the Las Vegas Firefighters
    boarded the flight. Thirteen sorors, Pamela
    Sands, Jacqueline Brown-Harris, Teri Polite,
    Allison Palmore, Gwendolyn Gates-Bartlett,
    Patti Hester, Ethel Archibald, Quin Rivers,
    Dawn Bames, Lynette Boggs McDonald, Shirley
    Barber, Gloria Brown, and Billie Rayford participated
    in the event. Students and adults were
    treated to T-shirts, Burger King dinner, a bag of
    goodies provided by United Airlines, Organization
    of Black Airline Pilots, and the J. B.

    of the U. S. Air Force Thunderbirds
    Grounds Crew and United Airlines grounds and
    flight crews provided a memorable experience
    for the students, parents, and sponsoring organizations.

    Lynda Watson, coordinator of the Inspiration
    Flight; and the Organization of Black Airline
