Report of the Ivy Leaf Reporter January 6,2001Happy New Year Sorors! As always, today’s meeting was advertised in the Las Vegas Review Journal. Twenty-three press releases were sent out on December 20th to advertise our Mardi Gras Ball. This year I included all of the major libraries as they all have community bulletin boards. I have been in touch with Lillian McMorris of Fox5 and she has set January 16th for us to tape a se^mer^promoting our Mardi Gras Ball. Would Sorors Lavonne Lewis, Willa White, andlWeFBoggs-MacDonald be sure and see me after the meeting to confirm their participation in this taping.I am sorry to say that we have nat been unable to build the Web Site. Now instead of promising you a due date, I will just say that we will announce when the Web Site is ready and issue instructions to everyone on-line as to how to access it.I did complete most of the work on the 2000 Public Relations Album and I hope you will be sure to look at it after the meeting. You will note that are two sections that I will try to complete later. One is Sorors In The News. I plan to try and list every Soror that received any kind of award, promotion, honor, etc. I also need to scan the articles that appeared in the Ivy Leaf so that I don’t have to cut my magazines up. My operation and recovery have slowed me down in these areas.I am happy to report that I have definitely developed a good working relationship with one of the Editors of the Ivy Leaf. We have e-mailed each other often and she is planning on visiting with me when she comes to Vegas. So..........I am eagerly lookingforward to the next issue of the Ivy Leaf. For the issue after that, I plan to submit an article an a picture of our Mardi Gras King and Queen. Press releases are being prepared to advertise our Founders’ Day luncheon.Still looking at developing the Web Site.Received communication from Ivy Leaf Editor that we will have an article published in the next IwLeaf Magazine. I’m always a bit confused that the deadline dates refer to two issues ahead.'JWould like to submit for next deadline date a picture of our Mardi Gras King and Queen. We finally made it again in the Ivy Leaf magazine. I hope everyone got their issue and saw
the picture of Soror Shirley Carroll and the article about our On Track activities. It pays to
be nice to the editor.
My really big news is that we finally have our Web Site that I kept promising in 2000 and
looked like I’d never accomplish in 2001.1 looked at many site possibilities for building one
and even purchased a book on how to build one. Thanks to my brother, who helped me get
started on our site, I chose My Family.Com. It is free of course and has many features that
will be useful to us. It is a private, secure site and only Sorority members with email
addresses can access it. All Sorors with email have been put in and should have received an
invitation that tells you how to get your username and password. I did get a few emails
back that did not go through and I will speak with those Sorors after the meeting to try and
get accurate information to get them on the site. If anyone that is on-line did not get an
invitation to the site, please see me after the meeting so I can reinvite you.
I spent many hours inputting information such National History, Chapter History (thanks
to Barbara Kirkland’s timely article in Tea Rose Talk), Founders, Golden Sorors, Silver
Sorors, Officers, and Theta Theta Omega Sorors in the News. I established links to our
National Web Site and to Kappa Xi’s web site. I inputted meeting dates and events in the
calendar. Click on the meeting and it will take you to the details of time, place, etc.
There is a voice chat feature that could really be useful to have an on-line committee
conference meeting. I hope Sorors with computers will make use of this site. Look it over
and as the Site Administrator email me any suggestions or problems with the site. Please fill
out the profile information. I could not put in our birthdays unless I had the year of birth.
When go to the site, the main areas to check out then are Calendar, News and History. You
can also click on Members and it will give you the names of everyone with an e-mail
addresses.
Thirty-one press releases for Founders’ Day went out to all the media and libraries as well
as several other organizations. I give the paper, envelopes, and printing free to the chapter
but would like to be reimbursed for postage in the amount of $10.54.1 so move.
At executive meeting we also decided that our involvement in the “Youth Day Inspiration
Flight” with the Organization of Black Airline Pilots and the JB Chapter of Tuskegee
Airmen was so unique that it should be our next submission to the Ivy Leaf. Soror Billie has
an appropriate picture to go with the article. So I also move that I be given a check for
$85.00 to submit the photo and article to the Ivy Leaf.
Finally, I would like to conduct a mini-workshop for only a half hour before the next
meeting on our new Web Site with all Sorors that have email addresses. I will have written
information for you and will go over all the features and some neat aspects of the site.

Report of the Ivy Leaf Reporter April 7,2001As usual, our meeting today was advertised in the Review-Journal’s “Around the Valley”.Two submissions were sent to the Ivy Leaf Magazine: one on the Mardi Gras Ball with a picture of our King and Queen and the other a picture and article on the Youth Aviation Inspirational Day.You might want to look at the Public Relations’ Album again as I finished it for display for the Founders’ Day Luncheon. A list of Sorors in the News in 2000 and the articles that appeared in the Ivy Leaf Magazine have been added.Before the meeting, I held a mini-workshop on the new A.K.A. Web site. Sorors that had not been able to access the site were given usernames and passwords to allow them to get into the site. I also reviewed briefly the features of the site. I hope that all Sorors that are on - line will utilize this site as important committee meeting, sorority functions, etc are posted in the calendar section. Soror Ethel Archibald has done a good job of updating meeting dates and inserting reminders. You may also link to our national web site as well as Kappa Xi’s web site.If you were not able to attend the workshop and have not been able to access the site, please see me after the meeting, as I have your username and password that will allow you access the site.I will be working on a public site that can be accessed by anyone and gives information on who we are and what we do.At executive meeting, it was agreed that for all paying events, I will send out press releases one month from the close of ticket sales. Report of the Ivy Leaf Reporter May 5,2001Today’s meeting was advertised in the Review-Journal, as usual. I also remembered to bring the Public Relations album for 2000. You may want to take a peek at it after the meeting as the final items on Sorors in the News in 2000 and our Ivy Leaf magazine articles have been added.I’m disappointed that so many Sorors have still not accessed our web site. I don’t know whether this is because you have not attempted to do so or whether you tried and had trouble^ doing so. I would appreciate you letting me know so I can assist you.When I get back from Europe in June, if you have been having trouble, how many would be interested in coming to Billie’s office one evening and having a hands-on demonstration on how to access the site and once on how to navigate around the site?<hn 'I’d like to thank you for your prayers, and get-well wishes during my recent surgery. By now most of you have received your Ivy Leaf magazine and know that Theta
Theta Omega was extensively covered in two articles and two photos. This doesn’t happen
too often sorors and we should be proud that we are making such outstanding and unique
contributions that it warrants such coverage.
For the next deadline, I had submitted an article on the Regional Conference in
California and all our awards and raves. However, I found that the deadline had been
pushed up by the Supreme Basileus and the editor said that they were featuring the
conference but were not taking individual awards or articles and Diana Shipley was
controlling that issue. So we will have to rest on our extensive coverage in this past issue.
I did indicate to the editor that I wanted to do a feature on Soror Dorothy Johnson
and her work with NBLIC. Soror Johnson knows that I have been collecting data on her
activities for sometime. The editor felt this was worthy news and probably should be in
Newsmakers.
I have heard from a few sorors by email that they have not be receiving their issues
of the Ivy Leaf. Please give me your names again after this meeting as I may be going to
Chicago and will personally take this up with membership at the national headquarters in
Chicago.
Your website is alive and brimming with news, dates, events, etc. Thanks to Soror
Ethel Archibald who faithfully enters this data regularly. This takes a lot of time and effort
so I hope all those on line are going into the site at least once a week. Again see me after the
meeting if you need to again get an invitation and password to access the site. I also am
getting email back from Soror Dorothy Johnson so I would appreciate if she would give me
her email address.
If you have been on the site lately you will notice that you are not bothered anymore
by a lot of advertising. I paid 20dollars to upgrade the site and this gave us more memory
and space and eliminated the advertising. I am not asking to be reimbursed as this is a gift
to the chapter.
I wowd set a date in October for a hands-on workshop at Billie Rayford’s office. So
all those that have been nervous about accessing the site or had troubling doing so may
want to attend this informative session. Soror Ethel Archibal will assist me with this
workshop.
Finally, if any committee is planning an event that they want the Public Relations
committee to advertise, they should see me a least a month before that event

Report of the Ivy Leaf Reporter November 3,2001Having just received the check for the picture and article submission to the Ivy Leaf, that is now just in the process of being sent to the Editor. As you will recall, the article is a feature on Soror Dorothy Johnson for Newsmakers.Public Relations will again design and print the tickers for Founders’ Day and will send press releases to all the media. Likewise this will be done for the Mardi Gras Ball.I’m sorry to keep delaying the AKA Web site workshop but I have to still work out a location, date and time. An article with photo was sent to the Ivy Leaf Magazine on Soror Dorothy Johnson being the first recipient of the Cornelia Banks Award in Health. Hopefully we will see it (but not for several issues) in the Newsmakers section.
Public Relations designed and printed all the tickets for the Founder’s Day Luncheon. I have also contacted Lillian McMorris regarding publicity for both Founder’s Day and the Mardi Gras Ball. As yet I have not heard from her. Plan to contact her again.
Press releases will be prepared for both events and sent out at the appropriate time to all the media.
In case you missed it, check out the article on Soror Ouida Brown and her Connections committee on page 11 of the Fall issue of the Ivy Leaf. Congrats to the Connections committee for putting us in the news again.
