(NBLIC), LAS VEGAS CHAPTERDATE:Saturday, May 5,2001The public program was considered a success with Soror Norma mesmerizing the audience with her speech on health. Our evaluations were quite surprising with so many rating us as excellent. We have six telephone calls to make as requested follow-ups...funding opportunities, Clark County Social Services wants to know how they can become more involved, program for middle schools and more.I had our photographer make us a 2001 collage of the conference and our video expert do a tape of Soror Norma speech. They are available for loan to the sorority as needed.I am in the process of writing a grant proposal to the Office of Minority Health, Rockville, MD requesting funds for opening a Community Health Resource Center in the Las Vegas Enterprise Zone area. I will and am requesting support letters from all who requested follow-up including Sorors Billie and Kaweeda.We will have a booth at the Nucleus Plaza Juneteeth 16th celebration.We will be on vacation July and August.This memo is for information only.

    SUBJECT: October 2001 Report
    I attended a meeting of the Women’s Health Connection on Monday, September 17th at
    AHEC Offices and I am scheduled for another meeting on Monday, October 15th;
    Appeared on KCEP-FM on the Community Partners in Health Program speaking on the
    history of NBLIC on Tuesday, September 18th and will appear again on Tuesday, October
    16th speaking on Breast Cancer;
    Held the regular meeting of NBLIC on Wednesday, October 3rd at the W. Las Vegas
    Library.
    I remind you of the HIV-Aids Conference on November 1st — 2nd and the EOB Health
    Fair scheduled on Saturday, November 3rd at their facilities near the Veterans’ Bldg.
    NBLIC will be participating.
    We have received verbal confirmation from Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Los Altos Hills,
    CA of a grant for 2002 in the amount of $2,500 toward our tentative April 2002 health
    program and written communication from our Western Regional Office of $1,000 and up
    toward our daily expenses. Our Western Regional Director, Carolyn Williams is
    scheduled to visit us at our November meeting. At that time, she will facilitate a
    workshop for us on “Down Home Healthy Living”.
    Since this is National Breast Cancer Month, we are happy to present to you a health
    booth on breast cancer located in the back of the room.
