    Dear News Director,
Theta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,
is sponsoring an evening with Rita Dove, 1987 Pulitzer Prize
Poet on Saturday, October 15th . At age 34, Ms. Dove was one
of the youngest recipients and only the second Afro-American
to win the coveted prize. 'We believe Rita Dove's appearance
in Las Vegas will be a memorable and exciting evening. Your
help in publicizing this event will make it possible for many
of the general public to learn of this program.
Our organization has received funding from the Nevada Humanities
Committee to make this program free and available to the general
public. In the past nine years, we have sponsored such notable
persons as: Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni, Julian Bond, LeRone
Bennett, and Alvin Pouissant. Those programs have enhanced
public understanding of the Black experience in America and
we expect this current event to continue the past trends.
    Thank you for helping us.
