    Miss Mary Syphus
    line 2
    Panaca, Nevada,
    line 3
    My Dear Friend:-
    line 4
    It has been several days
    line 5
    since I received your much
    line 6
    appreciated letter. How glad
    line 7
I was to hear from you!
    line 8
    I always am delighted to
    line 9
    receive letters from old friends.
    line 10
    Was very sorry that you
    line 11
    are having such a time
    line 12
    with your eyes. Hope they
    line 13
    are improved by this time.
    line 14
My school closed Mar, 22n .
    line 15
1 believe the same day as
    Page 2 line 1
yours. We had a general cry
    line 2
on the last day of school.
    line 3
I did hate so much to leave
    line 4
the children for I learned to love
    line 5
    them all. Didn’t know
    line 6
that I would ever see them
    line 7
    again.
    line 8
    Yes Mr. C and I
    line 9
    have "quit." Stopped corres-
    Page 2 line 10
    ponding last New Years or
    line 11
    shortly afterward. I believe
    line 12
he is going on a mission
    line 13
to the S. States in June. Do
    line 14
not expect to see him before
    line 15
he goes. It is almost a fact
    line 16
that I'll have to buy the
    line 17
    baby shoes for you. I'm
    line 18
    afraid your children will
    line 19
    Page 3
    wear many a pair out
    line 1
    ear I think of matrimony.
    line 2
By the way is Mr. B
    line 3
in Panaca, or does he just
    line 4
    call occasionally? I am
    line 5
    acquainted with three of
    line 6
    his sisters who live at
    line 7
    Panguitch. If all the
    line 8
family are as nice as they,
    line 9
you will do fine to stay
    line 10
by him. I think you and
    line 11
    he make an excellent pair.
    line 12
    We are going to
    line 13
    have a character ball this
    line 14
week. I am to be a
    line 15
    flower garden fairy. We
    line 16
    expect a grand time.
    line 17
    I hardly think I
    page 3 line 18
    shall go to school next
    line 19
    Page 4
    winter. Do you intend
    line 1
to go? A school of two
    line 2
    most likely.
    line 3
    I hope your sister’s
    line 4
    baby gets along nicely.
    line 5
    I shall hope to see
    line 6
    you at the Summer
    line 7
    School at Beaver not
    line 8
    very far in the future.
    line 9
Yes, I kept a photo for
    line 10
    you but neglected sending
    line 11
    it before. By some accident
    line 12
I find it has a scratch on
    line 13
    the neck; am very sorry.
    line 14
Write often to your true friend
    line 15
    Laura.
