My dearest Mary -

"The day is cold and dark and dreary

It snows and the wind is never weary."

To-day I feel as old as the hills
line
9
because we have winter here
line
10
again - Last week we had a
line
11
few lovely warm days and
line
12
I felt infused with new life.

Indeed I felt almost young

again - This morning I got

up at six o'clock, intending
line
3
to take a long walk, but great
line

was my disappointment to
line
5
find snow falling. I conclude^

to remain at home and read -

I received my Normal a

few days ago. I agree with you that it does not amount to much this semester. It seems to contain so very little that is of interest to me.
I do not think that the B.Y.A. ladies have much cause to feel flattered by the compli- -ment paid them. At least it accomplished some good if it influenced the Faculty in making it compulsory to take physical culture - It will be of lasting benefit to the ladies. Our class at the Academy is broken up and Miss Gates has returned to Provo - She had a class of sixty but she raised the tuition and a great many could not afford to take it. The number dwindled down to six or eight so she gave it up.
If the increase in your family continues at the present rate, it will take you some time after your return home

I know that Prof. Brimhall's

very fine. I wish he would

deliver it in Ogden for my

benefit.

0, Mary, my dear, I am in
line
5
love again. This time it is
line
6
with Ward and James the
line
7
Actors. Last week I saw
line
8
them in two performances
line
9
"Othello" and "Damon nd Pythias"
line
10
I was completely carried away.
line
11
Really at times I did not
line
12
realize where I was, on the
line
13
earth or in heaven - but
line
14
my love is all in vain for
line
15
both men are married. That
line
16
is always my fate, isn't it?
line
17
I have begun my music
line
18
and it is needless to say that
line
19
I am already discouraged,
line
20
but I amVdetiermined to stick
line
21
to it and see if I can accomplish
line
22
a little bit -

0, I had a letter
line
11
from Miss Findlay
line
12
last week and
line
13
she is thinking of
line
14
returning to Ogden
line
15
in May. She evidently
line
16
thinks that there are
line
17
some places better than
line
18
home
