Las Vegas - March 31, 1948 W 23-1-47 Mr. Frank Strong: Following my letter March 23 regarding pro- posed extension of water mains to Bonanza Village Tract: I now enclose letter from Waale Camplan & Tiberti, Inc., confirming the proposal outlined in con- ference referred to in my letter. We will use this as a basis for further negotiations with the sub-dividers when Mr. Adamson arrives here April 2nd. Suggest consideration be given to deferment of pumping equipment until after transmission line is in- stalled to Bonanza Village Tract, with provision in Work Order that pumps will be installed only if actual test shows they are needed. Our 1946 plan contemplated 25 lbs pump pressure at the pump station (under Plan "A") with 15 lbs at the northwest corner of the tract. There is a difference in elevation between our reservoir and the tract of 43 feet which, theoretically would create an 18 lb static head in the tract, less friction loss; and the offsetting with- drawal would not be appreciable during winter months. During the balance of the year, we have to operate one booster at the Clark Street reservoir anyway, to compensate for lack of water through the Charleston main until the pressure valve opens. This one booster pump at the Old Reservoir will create about 20 lbs at the reservoir, or approximately what we hoped to achieve by installing special pumping equipment for Bonanza Village only. As the demand in the City increases with the hot summer months, the second booster pump can be out in to offset heavy with- drawals. The character of our operations has changed since our original plan of installation was made in 1946. For that reason, I would like to try out the extension to Bonanza Village without special pumping equipment, and if it is found that adequate service cannot be furnished, we can then proceed with installation of the additional pump station provided for in Work Order. The method of operation under this proposed set-up would be similar to that on Charleston Boulevard. Will discuss this with Mr. Adamson here Friday and will advise you results of our further negotiations with the sub-dividers. Physical check of Bonanza Village Tract develops there are now 19 houses besides the office of the sub-dividers. A. M. Folger
