    Moapa, Nev. Jan. 25, 1903 J. T. McWilliams Dear Sir - I don't know unless my report has been seen by parties how any one outside of Pres. Clark can know my results -- expecting the field work which every one who does could see the scale as a great many observations were made by myself, as well as by Stewart. I have never used gallons on my computations but have used the formula thus [FORMULA] = discharge in second inches or 3.33 x length of weir x depth of water x square root of height of water above ... x 50 By statute a standard California second in. = 0.02 of 1 cub. sec. foot - or 50 stand inches = 1 cub ft of water per second In experimenting with the water at ... upper weir I found that water was escaping and I moved the weir to the junction of Spring Creeks where the same weir gone nearly 1 inch greater measurement above ... and to check this I measured the ... separately. The only difference may be in the estimate of the miners inch. My instructions were to use Cal. ... inch and the greater measurement on ... Respectfully, Colonel Moore
