Dec. 27, 1902. Mr. C.O Whittemore, McCornick Block, Salt Lake, Utah. Dear Sir:- I beg to acknowledge receipt of a copy of your letter of the 20th inst. to my brother, which refers to the title and conditions of affairs at the Las Vegas Ranch, which I have noted carefully, and I presume you will hear from my brother very soon in regard to the matter. The question of water and good land is certainly very disappointing and I do not feel that we should be imposed upon by paying the price that has been spoken of. There is no doubt that Mrs. Stewart knew very well that there were not 400 inches of water, and she also knew there was not the quantity of farming land that she stated. So far as I am concerned, I would feel that we were not obliged to close the matter up on this basis, however, I would not attempt to make any decision in the matter until you hear from my brother. I leave for New York tomorrow evening. If you have occasion to write me, please address me care of my brother's office, New York. Wishing you a Happy New Year, I am Very respectfully yours, (Signed) J. Ross Clark
