Hammill Union Pacific Railroad Company Land and Tax Department 422 West 6th Street T. E. H. AUG 6 1964 L Los Angeles 14, California a up 1Qs Dear Mr. Hammill: Please refer to the department’s letter of July 20 and your reply of July 29 relative to the rights of way needed from the Union Pacific Company for the construction of Interstate 15. Please be advised and assured the State of Nevada, by and through its Department of Highways, will acquire any and all rights of way and easements necessary to complete Interstate 15 through the City of Las Vegas either by negotiation or condemnation. At a meeting held in the Right of W a y office in Las Vegas on July 22 between the state and its contract appraisers, together with representatives of the Union Pacific Land and Tax Department, the method and manner of appraising the existing easements of the Las Vegas Valley Water District and the proposed easement for the relocation was discussed in detail, and it was the understanding of this department that the values of each would be reflected in the state’s appraisals. Your attention is directed fn paragraph 3 of the state's letter dated July 20, which states in part: ’’The Department should be in a position to make your company a firm offer by November 30, 1964. ’’ Once again, m a y we request that an immediate right of entry be granted the Las Vegas Valley Water District so that a contract m a y be awarded by them for the relocation of their lines. Very truly yours, W. O. W R I G H T - S T A T E H I G H W A Y E N G I N E E R JEB: LKK: im John E. Bawden, Deputy State Hwy. Engr.
