Parley Set Here ?spa ?? f-zs-Jyt | ? To Forestall Another 'Drouth' , With water'use restrictions due to go off in Las Vegas within the next week or 10 days, George' Allard, chairman of the Nevada ^iiblic service commission set the wheels in motion this morning to insure against a recurrence of the shortage which has forced residents of this city to curtail consumption throughout the summer months. . As the community, entered the sixtieth day of rigid regulation of water use for irrigation purposes, Allard scheduled a conference for Las Vegas on October 11 to go over plans of the Las Vegas Land and Water company for improving the system to provide • sufficient pressure and supply to take care of the need before another summer arrives. At the same time A1 Folger, general manager for the water company, stated he felt certain that by the middle or latter part of next week, peak consumption will have receded sufficiently to permit complete relaxation of all restrictions and that n o t i c e would be given in advance. Allard said the. October-meeting would probably be held in the commissioners’ chambers in the city hall, beginning at 10 o’clock, and that the full membership of his board would be present including, A. M. Smith, state, engineer, and Charles" V. Williams. Hugh Shamberger, assistant to Smith, will be present in an advisory capacity. Allard said he had been advised the water company was prepared to present proposals for sinking additional wells and constructing additional m a i n s which they felt would take care of any demands that might be made on the local utility for several years. He said further he planned to invite Mayor E. W. Cragin and other interested city officials, members of the board of directors of the Las Vegas valley water district,, chamber of commerce representatives, and interested water users to be present. .
