Calvin, concerning use to he Bade of new w ell Just ooc^leted at Las Vegas, Nevada. I am attaching prin t showing location of the w ell in relation to the springs and pipe lin es forming the water system at la s Vegas* At present water is supplied from two springs which I have noted as No. 1 and No. 2 on the map. The water from these springs is carried in 12“ t i l e pipe lin es to a forehay in head o f the 16° pipe lin e serving the town* At the springs an a t t e s t w a s made to enclose the springs1 proper within concrete w alls and w h ile jfais was quite successful at Spring No. 1, At Spring No* 2 , owing to the large area over which water ris e s and the boggy condition of the s o i l , the concrete m i l fa ile d and water now enters the pipe from the natural spring basin which covers approximately one-half acre* This has in (a ls o the basin at Spring No* 1, but to a lesser extent) lie s within a natural drainage course so that during storms the surface waters fin d their way into the springs and of course, carry more or le s s impurities into the spring basins* We w i l l he successful in proteetix& Spring No* 1 from th is source o f contamination, hut it w i l l not he possible to protect the basin o f SpringNo* 2* Therefore, it is planned to conibine the water from the new w ell with the water from Spring No. 1 at the forehay at the head o f the 16“ lin e and allow the water from Spring No. 2 to flow through the natural open channel to the ranch land situated in sections 25 and 2$ as indicated in green on map*
