I* p ip e lin e including 22 hydrants serving the coach lin e : A study of our records w ith regard to t h is w ater lin e has uncovered the fo llo w in g fa c ts: During the Caliente west construction in 1903-04 a 3" lin e was constructed together w ith hydrant boxes serving the coach lin e . Under Appropria tio n 531 in 1906 the o rig in a l hydrant boxes were replaced. On August 7, 1907, Appropriation 678 was approved c a llin g fo r the construction, among other f a c i l i t i e s , of 500 f t . o f 8'* w ater lin e , 350 f t . of 4“ drain lin e and a 10" standpipe; the w ater lin e to run from the 70,000 ga llo n tank along Track No. 1 to the 10" standpipe to be located 200 f t . east o f the edge of the turntable between Tracks No. 1 and 2. This pipe lin e w ith standpipe was not constructed however, the money authorized being used to construct 1429 f t . 5" o f 10" machine banded riveted stave pipe connecting the 10" standpipe constructed under Appropriation 870 in 1909-10 with the main pipe lin e from the spring and replacin g a lik e length o f the o rig in a l 3" coach water lin e . Under Appropriation 870 in 1909-10, 1224 f t . of 6"& 10" redwood stave pipe lin e together with a 10" standpipe extension easterly was constructed to above 10" lin e , replacing remaining portion of the o rig in a l 3" lin e . Appropriation 1332 in June 1914 covers replacement o f the 6" wood stave pipe w ith the present 6" O.D. casing and Appropriation 1965 in August 1918 covers replacement of the 10" wood stave pipe and standpipe w ith e x istin g 6" O.D. casing.
