\ S A L T L A K E R O U TE Office of Second Vice-President L o s A n g e le s & S a lt L a k e R a ilro a d C O M P A N Y J. ROSS CLARK, Second Vice-President Los Angeles, Cal., Jan. 3, 19E0 File N o. 59-PP Mr. W. H. Comstock, Los Angeles. £ Dear Sir:- / I have copy of Mr. Maguire’s letter of January 2nd to you In regard to the renewal of 3200 feet of Las Yegas pipe line, replacing thp vitrified pipe with wood stave construction. It is ui&ortunate that we cannot secure quicker delivery on Imis material, "but in view of the quotations made to Mr. /tfaguire, I presume that delay in that respect is unavoidable. In the meantime every precaution should be taken to avoid a'repetition of the pipe line trouble «chich have experienced bit two occasions in the recent past and which results in shutt~ ing off the water supbly from the city. I presume that Mr. Maguire will take'&?epsto reduce the chance jof this to a minimum. I do not believe that extensive repairs such as encasing line in cement or similar action should be undertaken at this time, by reason of the large expense which would thereby be entailed. Prom the quotations which are shown in Mr. Maguire’s letter, it is my opinion that it is advisable to accept the bid of the Pacific Tank & Pipe Company, and Urge upon them the need of delivery of the material at the earliest possible date. Yours very truly
