This morning, with the Water Service Gang and our re - // p a ir man, we made a t e s t o f the new wat&r lin e . A l l va lves were opened up at th is end and the water wa^s slow ly turned in to the lin e , and as the same f i l l e d up andgashed out, the va lves were closed slow ly, to avoid any waiwr ^pressure whatsoever. From ouick ohservai'ionrone would almost he o f the opinion th at the lin e is beyond r e p a ir . From the va lve between the warehouses on Main S tre e t to the Jap shanties about 400 fe e t west o f the shop yard fen ce, there were 55 leaks, ranging from one-Quarter inch to two inches in diameter, and we could not a llo w the w ater to run lon ger than p o ssib ly 1 and l/S hour, as i t had flooded under a l l o f the tracks under which th e-p ip e lin e passes.
