That the rates of wharfage upon all wharves, in Los Angeles Harbor, and the amounts for handling the articles hereinafter mentioned for -the year com­mencing July 1, 1912, and ending June 30, 1913. are hereby fixed as follows, to wit: Rates are in cents and 2000 lb. tons, unless otherwise specified. That the rates for wharfage herein prescribed are for wharfage for a period not exceeding twenty-four (24) hours; and if any commodity for which wharfage is charged, as .herein provided, is not re­moved within said time from any wharf, the person, firm or corporation owning or operating such wharf shall be authorized and entitled to charge, collect and re­ceive an additional* amount equal to said wharfage rates for such commodity as above prescribed for every twenty-four (24) hours, or fraction thereof, during which the said commodity shall remain upon such wharf, in excess of twenty-four (24) hours. That whenever any article mentioned in this resolution passes oyer two or more w harves. operated by different persons, firms or corporations within the Harbor of Los Angeles, then and in that case, •each person, firm .or corporation, oper­ating e&eh such wharf shall only be enti­tled to charge, receive or collect the pro­portionate share of the wharfage charges nereln prescribed. That whenever the handling of any* of said merchandise is done by the crew of any vessel the rate charged for handling the same is -hereby fixed at one half of the rates above specified, and such charge shall ' -be applied to shipments transferred from one vessel to another vessel without the use of a wharf. That the rate of wharfage -upon all freight or merchandise other than that which is herein given at a different rate, shall be ten (10) cents per ton o f two thousand (2000) pounds, and a reasonable charge for handling the same, hot to ex­ceed the actual cost o f the labor em­ployed. That said rates of dockage shall '-be for each day o f twenty-four (24) hours, or fraction thereof; provided, however, that any vessel subject tp. the terms and conditions of this resolution shall not be charged more than one dockage in any one day; where any vessel’ shall, during any one day, dock at more than one wharf, or more than one time at any one wharf, then said one day’s dockage so charged shall be divided between the • persons, firms or corporations owning or operating said several wharves. Sec. 3. Before any person, firm or corporation owning or operating any wharf shall charge, sue for or collect any toll or wharfage or dockage, such person, firm or corporation m-ust procure from the -City Clerk of the City o f Los An­geles a license ? authorizing him to take toll's, wharfage or dockage for the year commencing July 1, 1912. and ending June 3Q, 1913, and said license shall be issued to such person, firm or corporation by the said City Clerk upon , the payment of the license fee herein fixed for the said wharves respectively, as follows, to Wit: Southern Pacific Company ............ -$4500.00 Kerckhoff-Cuzner Mill and Lumber Co. ..... ........................................... 3*00.00 San Pedro Lumber Company . . . . . 400.00 San ..Pedro. Co. _______ 1150.00 Crescent Wharf & Warehouse Co. 1000.00 •Hammond Lumber Company, for­merly National Lumber Company 600.00 Consolidated Lumber Company .,. 500.00 Pacific Lumber Company ............ 300.00 Outer Harbor Dock & Wlharf Com­pany ........................... 300.00 The* license herein provided to be is­sued shall specify the rates o f wharfage . and dockage, and tolls herein fixed to be charged for the wh-arf for which said license is issued. : Sec. 4, It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, whether as principal', clerk,, servant or agent, o-r employee, to take, or charge or collect, or sue for, any wharfage or dockage for the use of the said wharves, or any wharf, with­out first having paid the license fee here­in fixed for said, wharf, ahd having pro­cured the ?license so to do. as in this res­olution provided. And every person who shall violate any of the provisions of this resolution relating to the taking of tolls, wharfage or dockage, without a license, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and is punishable by imprisonment in the -city jail for a period not exceeding nine­ty '(90) days, or by a fine not exceeding Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00), cor by both sucfr fine and imprisonment. 'Sec. 5. It shall 'be unlawful for any person or persons, whether as principal, clerk, servant, agent or employee, to charge any greater or less rate for wharf­age or dockage than that fixed .by this resolution, and every person who shall make such charge in excess- of or. less than the rate fixed, ' shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and is punish­able as provided in Section 4 -hereof. Sec. 6. Every charge for toll, wharfage or dockage, without a license, and each charge for wharfage or . dockage in excess of or less than the rate herein fixed shall be deemed a separate offense, and shall be punishable as herein provided. ?See. 7. The provisions of this reso­lution fixing rates shall apply to owners thereof, as herein stated, to their-lessees, or' lessors, their agents and assigns, and where two or more wharves are owned by the same company, -herein named, the same rate shall apply to all wharves of said company unless otherwise herein provided. Sec. 8. The license fee for any wharf not herein expressly mentioned, shall be and is hereby fixed at Two Hundred Dollars ($266-) for the year commencing July 1, 1912. and ending June 36, 1913. Sec. 9. A copy of this resolution shall, be.. conspicuously posted on eac-h public wharf of each wharf owner in the City of Los Angeles by the person or corpora­tion owning and controlling the same. •Sec. 16. The Secretary of the Board of Harbor Commissioners shall certify Mo«xh^fadoption o f this-resototion by the Beard of Harbor Commissioners and shall file the same in the office of the City ’ Clerk, who shall present the same to-the Council at its next regular meeting and shall cause the same to be .published for five days in a daily newspaper printed, published and circulated in said C-tty of Los Angeles. RESOLUTION of the Board of Harbor Commissioners of the City of Los An­geles fixing the rates op tolls for the use of the Ferry operated by the San Pedro Transportation Company. BE IT RESOLVED AN D ORDERED by the Board of Harbor Commissioners of the City o f Los Angeles as follows: ^ Section 1. That the rates of tolls to be charged and collected by the San Pedro Transportation Company for the '^transportation of passengers during the year commencing July 1, 1912, and end­ing June 36, 1913, are hereby fixed as follows: For transporting passengers, in either direction, between the ferry landing at the foot of Fifth Street, San Pedro, and the ferry landing on East San Pedro, •near the depot of the San Pedro-, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Com­pany, known as the East San Pedro Ferry landing, for each passenger, per trip, one w a y ...... . 5 cents. Provided, however, that the fare shall he 2% cents per trip one way, in either direction, or one-hair Of the fare above fixed for-transporting passengers between said points,‘-for any person who shall purchase tickets amounting to not less than sev­enty- five cents’ worth at a time; and the tickets so purchased shall be good, ahd accepted by said San Pedro Trans­portation Company for passengers be­tween said points, if presented at any time within six months from the date of such purchase. For transporting passengers, in. either direction, between, the ferry landing on East San Pedro, near the said depot of the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad Company, known as the East San Pedro Ferry Landing, and the ferry landing on Terminal Island near the point where Third Street on T e r -. minal Island, produced westerly, meets the water front, known as the Terminal Island Ferry Landing, for each passenger per trip, One- way......... 16 cents. Pro­vided, however, that the fare shall be 5 cents per trip, one way, in either di­rection, or on e-half' of the fare above fixed \for transporting passengers, be­tween said points, for any person who -shall purchase tickets amounting to not less than seventy-five cents worth at a time, and the tickets so purchased shall be- good, and accepted by said San Pedro Transportation Company for passengers between said points, if presented at any time within six months from the date of such purchase. , For transporting passengers,* in either direction, between the ferry land­ing on Terminal Island, -near th e' point where Third Street, on Terminal Island, produced westerly, meets the water front and known, -as the Terminal Island Ferry Landing, and the ferry landing at the foot o f Canal Street, Wilmington, for each passenger, per trip, one way . . . . . . . ---- - 5 cents. ' For transporting passengers, in.' either direction, between the ferry land­ing at the foot o f Fifth 'Street; San Pedro, and the ferry landing On Terminal Island, near the point where Third Street, on Terminal Island, produced westerly, meets the .water front, and known as the Terminal Island Ferry Landing, for each passenger, per trip, one way ; ................ 16 cents. It shall be unlawful for the San Pedro Transportation Company, or for any person, as agent or employee >f said Company, or otherwise representing, or in behalf of said Company, to charge or collect from any person any fare greater or less than the fares p re -' scribed in this resolution for transport­ing passengers by -the ferry operated by said San Pedro Transportation Company. Sec. -3. That the Secretary of the Board of Harbor Commissioners of the City of Los -Angeles shall certify to the adoption of this resolution by tlie Board of Harbor Commissioners, and shall forthwith file the same in the office of the City Clerk. That the City Clerk shall present this resolution to the Coun­cil at its next regular meeting, and shall cause the same to be published for five days in- a daily newspaper printed, pub- Pshed and circulated in said City of Los Angeles.
