The city grants the steamship company (when not required for the use o f said American-Hawaiian Steamship Company) as follow s: "The said company may permit other persons, firms of corporations to moor and dock their vessels, to load and unload the same, and to handle or store goods, wares and merchandise at said wharf, and to receive and land passengers thereat, under such rules and regula­tions as may be perscribed by the Board o f Harbor Commissioners o f the City o f Los Angeles, or otherwise by law". exclusive use of Slip No. 1 and warehouse, and any arrangement they may have with their patrons need not be applied to other steamship companies1 business, nor could other party or parties use this s lip without the consent of the American-Hawaiian Steamship Company.
