B , Ec B. AS I 1948 At L0s Angeles - Feb. 2$, I94S Mr, E. E. Bennett• Ln making an inspection trip over the road with Mr# Ashby, the question was raised as to the abandoning of the water facilities at Ivanpah. As you know, we have two wells located about five miles from Ivanpah in a part of the desert where it is very difficultrto secure water, tyader dieselization it is contemplated that these wells will not be required; however, at some future time it may be that steam power may again be required. I was instructed by %*• Ashby to refer the following question to you: If we discontinued operating the wells for Railroad use, would we lose the title to them; that is, could the wells be leased to some private individual and the title be retained by the Railroad C©., although not actively used in the operation of the railroad? Will you please advise. i p s g 1 1rf « W f e l l l 1 H i . d M A "5 1^ 0^ w m m m
