Knickerbocker: Please be referred to your letter of May 27, file 353-2*1-, relative to giving preference when making study of water situation to stations involving water rights: I find that the water rights, particularly on the Salt Lake Division, are considerably involved, in that filings are very old and numerous transfers covering title to water and land indicates that a search of records by the Right of Way and Tax Department is desirable. This matter was discussed last week with Attorney Hammond at Salt Lake, and he suggests an Abstract of Title be made and that it will be necessary to check up on outside party filings and usings. Mr.Hammond further suggests that a check be made approximately every six months of all points where we have filings in order to determine if filings have been made by outside parties or our rights in any manner jeopardized. We have filings at the following stations: Erda Faust Lofgreen Jericho Black Rock Modena EClagrpin Rox Acoma BCialgi eSpptreings Starr Juab Delmues Las Vegas Arden Kelso Moapa. It is requested that you authorize the Right of Way and Tax Department to make search of records and determine the exact amount of water to which we are entitled as well as the status of right of way used for conveying wqter; making abstract of title where same is necessary to clearly indicate our rights, and make such other records as are nec­essary to conform with instructions issued in Mr.Calvin’s letter of May 2*1-th, copy off which was attached to your letter above referred to.
