L ob A n g e le s, C a l. March 21,1916 Mr.A.S.Halsted, General Counsel: By deed dated June 10,1899, Domingo Barlogi and wife, deeded to Joseph’ A-.West for $500.00, "range and ranch known as "C lark 's W ells" about one mile east of Deseret Springs, and when surveyed would be the NW-J of SEj* the SW-J- of the NBj- and the Ej- of the NWf- o f Section S4, T. 34 S, R. 19 W, Iron County." Mr. West was the Chief Engineer of the Utah & P a c ific Railwoad. On A pril 4, 1899, Thomas J.lynch, et a l, deeded to Chas. Reinbol for $1500.00 "possessory claim to 640 acres with improvements embracing the springs known as Deseret Springs, also possessory claim to 160 acres situated up the canyon from house on said 640 acres about one and three fourths miles cultivated to hay and known as the hay fie ld with a l l water and water righ ts, Iron County, Utah. The whole of said property constituted what is known as the Deseret Spring and heretofore used and now occupied by the heirs of Jno C.Lynch, deceased." On May 8, 1899, Reinbol deeded said property to Joseph A.West for $700.00. West subsequently deeded both the Deseret Springs and Clark's Wells Ranches to W.H.Bancroft, Trustee, who in turn, conveyed to SPLA&SLRR Co. Wo record of water appropriation appears in Abstract of T itle . Neither Lynch nor Barlogi had any grantors of record. The land has been unsurveyed up u n til two or three years ago. Since the construction of the railro ad , the Company has been using water ffom said springs at Modena through a pipe lin e , the right of way for which was file d upon under the Act of February 15, 1901 which grants revocable permit and which permit becomes void
