n 9 - z Los Angeles, June 16, 1953 Mr. Calvlh M. Cory: I have a copy of your letter of June 15# 1953# transmitting copy of Application to the State Engineer of Nevada for transfer of appropriation tinder Permit 7200 to the well in the shop grounds. According to my information here the description of the location of the existing shop well referred to in Item 7 is Incorrect. According to our contract with the District the shop well is located in the NW£ of the SW£ of the NW£ of Section 34. The exact location of Well No. 1 stated in Item 3 appears to be the same location referred to in Permit 7200. The Certificate of Appropriation states the point of diversion of existing Well No. 1 to be "the SW£ of the SW£ of Section 29# Township 20 S., R. 6 E., M. D. B. & M . , or at a point which bears N. 8l* 25* 30" E, from the SW corner of Section 29# same township and range". I notice the statement in your letter to Mr. Sham-berger that we do not wish the actual Issuance of the certificate until the bond election has been held and the bonds sold. This is not the governing time. We do not wish the appropriation to be transferred to the shop well until the distribution facilities in the shop grounds have been completed so that water can be delivered from that well to all of the railroad facilities. This may be before or after the sale of the bonds. I understand the Division Engineer is giving some consideration to the possibility of delivering water from the shop grounds without a reservoir by means of booster pumps until such time as the overhead reservoir can be constructed. It will take several months to complete the overhead reservoir. E. E. Bennett ECRsMSB
