Mr. Sutton 2. October IS, 1951 In order that we say be fully prepared for the next conference with Mr. Allen, I would appreciate receiving from you some time during the week of October 22nd the information hereinafter mentioned. Will you review the annual reports of the LVL&WCO. to the Nevada Public service Commission for all years subsequent to 1931, and ascertain if you can identify any of the figures shown on page 15 of the Commission9s Opinion in the above case, dated August 24, 1951? Mr• Allen claims that he obtained all of this information solely from the annual reports of the LVL&WCo. We have reviewed several of the annual reports of that company and find that on page three certain general information of important changes during the year has been given with respect to the facilities of the Railroad Company as well as those of the LVL&WCo. However, we do not find that the LVL&WCo. annual reports contain any figures relating to the cost of capital additions to the Railroad Company facilities. Will you also prepare a statement showing the actual capital additions to the production facilities of the Railroad Company for each ye ar subsequent to the year 1930?_ It is my understanding that the book value of the railroad faci-litles as of December 31. 1930, wasJ177.147.B8 and that the book value of such facilities excluding land as of December 31, 1950, was 1773,554.20. We would like to be able to show Mr! Allen how the book cost of these facilities grew each year after 1930, in comparison with the growth in book value shown at page 15 of the Commission’s decision. I would also like to receive a statement of capital additions already made in the year 1951 bo the facilities of the Railroad Company and those of the Water Company. have information concerning additions and betterments which are not yet recorded, but which are under construction during the year 1951. such additions should be shown g. your statement. You will recall that pages 24 25 J* J* hibit B in the above case indicates that capital additions to the railroad facilities for the year W l are estimated at $69 250.00* and capital additions to the facilities of the Water Company are estimated at ,230.000.00. We want to be able to show Mr. Allen what portion of these estimated ex-oenditures have been made in the year 1951 and what portions Se are reasonably certain will be made during that year.
