Knickerbocker: I have yours of the 29th, and note Mr. J e ffe rs ’ inquiry as to our progress in this matter. f- We delayed proceeding in this matter u n til our protest against increase o f taxes on railroad property in Nevada fo r the year 1929 was disposed of before the Nevada Tax Commission, the personnel of which includes the Chairman of the Public Service Commission and the dominating factor. We were also in hopes that the contract between the Railroad and the Consolidated Power & Light Co. of Las Vegas, fo r the furnishing o f e le c tr ic energy, in which the Public Service Commission has been much interested, might be consummated. We also have pending before the Public Service Commission application fo r c e r tific a te o f convenience to operate motor vehicle stage service through Clark County. are pending, we are preparing, and within a few days w ill submit fo r the execution of Las Vegas Land & Water Company, an application fo r 50-year permit to use such of the streets and alleys where we have already in stalled water mains, and such others as we may hereafter extend service to, the parts of the c ity and subdivisions served and to be served to be shown on plat to be file d in the o ffic e of the City Clerk o f the City of Las Vegas within such time as the permit shall designate, and not la ter than six months a fte r date o f permit. We anticipate no d iffic u lt y in procuring the permit. A fter permit is issued, we w ill then f i l e with the Public Service Commission an application fo r 100$ increase on service other than motor service.
