Las Vegas - December 13, 19^9 Mr. Wm. Reinhardt: W 2 » 3 - A WM. R. DEC 1 6 ( cc Mr. E. E. Bennett ) The survey of water usage being condicted ty Mr. Anderson of the UPRR Co., Mr. Thompson of the City of Las Vegas, and Mr. Gardner of this office is having a beneficial result and is making people conscious of the importance of water conservation. A good example is the enclosed pamphlet issued by the Housing Authority of the City of Las Vegas to each of its tenants in the Kelsd-Turner Terrace. In discussing this with Mr. Anderson we feel it would be well to mail one of these to each of the Water Company's customers, to be released about March 1st. Some of the wording would have to be changed, in as much as we are not permitted to make repairs to plumbing on private property, such repairs being handled by plumbers. In congratulating Mr. Garrison, Manager of the Housing Authority, he advised he would have no objection to our copying his idea and stated the pamphlet was prepared by consultants to housing projects and their offices are in Hollywood. Perhaps Mr. Moore of our Publicity Department could assist us in this. Another subject that has arisen during the physical check of water usage is the method of notifying property owners that City Ordinance # 2^7 requires recapture pumps on house coolers and recapture towers on water cooling refrigeration machines. While the Survey Committee notifies the person on the premises in each instance, often this is merely the tenant, and in order to get formal notification to the responsible parties it is suggested a letter form be prepared addressed to the owner over the signature of a City Official notifying him of the recapture provisions of the ordinance so that when we go back to recheck exceptions noted there will be no question about proper notification. The proposed form of notification is attached and I will appreciate your approval or suggested changes. The meters have been received and we will loan them to the City for installation in various locations about the first of the year.
