Las Vegas Review Journal- June 7, 1950 City Dads May Lift Curbs O n Hours for Lawn Watering § A possibility that present summer restrictions against using water for lawn sprinkling purposes, except between certain hours of the nay and night, will be rescinded loomed today as the city commissioner? took under advisement numerous protests that water pressure throughout the city is being seriously affected. ;: s ~ • A1 Folger, manager of the Las Vegas Land and Water company, is scheduled to appear before the commissioners this aft-' ernoon to discuss the problem. City Manager Chet Shelley j pointed out that the lack of pres-j sure is apparently due to whole-j sale lawn watering between the 1, legal hours of 5. AM. and 9 A M | and 6 P M to midnight, s “ Everybody apparently tries ' to water at the same time and ? this naturally affects the pres- ; sure in homes and business establishments— usually at the [time water is most needed. I think we are m aking a mistake in keeping the restrictions,'’ Shelley told the commissioners. If and when the watering hours are eliminated, Shelley-continued, local residents w ill be I asked to cooperate in the con-, servation of water by refraining from leaving sprinklers or hoses on all day or night.
