SUBJECT; Annual Report of Water Utility to Public Service Your letter of June 10, 1938, Ho. W 18-6-2, and Mr. Strong*s Ho. 1*7334, July 29, with respect to statistical information reported in Annual Report of Water Utility to the Public Service Commission of Hevada; As X now understand the situation, the water produced at las Vegas is Jointly utilized by the Water Company and The Railroad Co., and it seems the statistics reported in the Annual Report as to production and consumption, to give a correct picture of the water facilities, should describe the facilities as a whole, and report the total water produced and consumed. On this theory it appears the figure reported as '’Maximum amount of water available" should be, for the year 1937, 2,318,967,106 gallons as furnished by Mr. strong. While you state in your letter of June 10, 1938, that the proper answer to the question; "Total water pumped or diverted from stream" is "Hone", it is not clear to me why this is true, as * Mr. Strong*s letter of July 29 shows that 1*154,800,506 gallons in 1937 were diverted from the supply of pater produced, for use at Las Vegas Ranch for irrigation purposes. X am wondering whether it would not be consistent, in view of the fact that the Annual Report is made by the Water Company, to report as diverted from the stream, not only the water used at the Raneh, but also that utilized and sold by the Railroad Company.
