Campbell, Las Vegas real­tor, was named president of the board of directors- of the Las Vegas Valley Water District at the regular monthly meeting held', last night. Campbell, who has served dur­ing the past year as vice presi­dent, succeeds Harry Miller fol­lowing the plan of rotating of­ficers agreed upon by the direc­tors. S. L. Butterfield was elected vice president and William Coult-. hardt, secretary-treasurer. Other meihbers of the board include: Otto Underhill, James Cashman, John Bunch, and Har­ry Miller. In a brief statement issued this morning, Campbell said he expected to “ vigorously follow ] the policy so ably carried out’ by Mr. Miller, and which we all: hope will result in early start: on construction of the pipe-lines! and facilities necessary to tap. the Lake Mead water supply for Las Vegas.” Campbell said that Colonel Ho­ward Clark, manager of the water district would, go tp- Los Angeles next week to start ne­gotiations with officials of the- Las Vegas Lafid and Water com-j pany relative'to the purchase by the district of the local difetrib-; uting sysem, a necessary prelim-j inary to the rest of the program.
