Los Angelos - February 24, 1955* 1-7334 Mr* G. M. Bates - Los Angeles: On February 16, 1955, a messenger from James M. Montgomery's office in Pasadena delivered to this offlee the attached print, Sheet J-2 revised January 1, 1955, and requested that th e 'Railroad Company grant the Las Vegas Valley Water District approval to proceed with Jacking the 36* RO pipe encasement under the Railroad Company's main and freight lead track at San Francisco Street, Las Vegas, Nevada, The Railroad Company recently granted Clark County an easement for 80* highway across railroad property at this location, being Contract Audit #83231 dated July 23, 1954, Consequently, the Las Vegas Valley Water District will not require easement from the Railroad Company provided pipeline is located in street area. However, It should conform to our standards of construction. We have reviewed the attached plan of Oakey Boulevard Feeder, Sheet J-2 of 28 sheets, dated January 3, 1955, revised January 3, 1955, Specification Mo. 6 & 104, as prepared by James M. Montgomery, Construction in accordance with this plan will conform to our requirements and is exactly the same construction which has been installed under our tracks In the yards at Las Vegas. In view of the fact this pipe line construction will be performed within the limits of San Francisco Avenue and does not involve any industrial property, you no doubt will desire to handle this matter in the usual way with Superintendent and General Manager for obtaining their approval. In addition to the usual indemnity clauses, advance notice of working underneath our track, etc., which you customarily include in a letter agreement with a company or district, I suggest you include the following: That said pipeline and encasement pipe shall be constructed in accordance with: 1. Union Pacific Railroad C, 3. Specification #1029, adopted November, 1949, copy attached; 2. James M. Montgomery's Dwg. *Typical Details A* Sheet M-l of 28 sheets, dated August 24, 1954, Typical Section Pipe Encasement; and 5. James M. Montgomery's Dwg, Oakey Boulevard Feeder Sheet J-2 Of 28 sheets, revised January 3, 1965* (Signed) E . h ADAMSON R. L. ADAMSON. RLA-b
