July 30, 1951 7334 MEMORANDUM FOR FILE: Referring to Mr. Maagrs memorandum to me of July 27, 1951, relative to delay in constructing water main on Railroad Company property at Las Vegas in order to serve the West Side District, authorized by Work Order 4789: Today, I discussed this matter at some length with Division Engineer Martin, who advised that he had made all preparations for excavating trench for the water line from the existing 24 w main northerly to Bonanza Road when he received orders from Omaha to send his dragline to Kelso for the dismantling of an 890,000-gal. water tank. Dragline was required for handling the steel, as it is being cut down and cut apart by a contracting firm to whom the Omaha office awarded a contract direct, and it is estimated that this contracting firm will be working for about ten days to two weeks. In the circumstances, Mr. Martin said he had to obey instructions and send this dragline to Kelso. He endeavored to obtain another dragline, but was unable to do so. He advises he will makeiconnection to the 24tt main and do whatever work he can he can return the dragline to Las Vegas, and will hurry the work all possible. R. L. Adamso" AUG 2 1S5 L. C. c.
