Now, we h a v e o n l y four trees standi nor, a n d these a r e in very b a d shape. W e have had a ran from the un i t e d States Department of Agriculture pass on them, and his report is that laok of w a t e r during the six mo n t h s of summer has caused them to dry out; that w h e n F a l l comes, d u e to p l e n t y of w a t e r and still w a r m weather, there Is caused a f a l s e growth, choking the trees, and m a k i n g it g e r y easy f o r them to take a n y d i s e a s e that m a y be around. He a l s o stated that the b e r m u d a grass in the pas~ ture w o u l d stay dormant du r i n g the d r y season, but that the foxtails w o u l d still seed a n d grow. As y o u know, bermuda g r a s s is g o o d pasture nine months of the year, and foxtails are only g o o d for about six weeks b e f o r e they head, then they are dangerous to horses a n d oattie. There w e r e a l s o lots of roses that were completely destroyed*, The average v a l u e of f r u i t trees in California is $100.00 per tree; seven mo n t h s loss of pasture w o u l d b e fig u r e d on a b a s i s of a p p r o x i m a t e l y $250.00 per year, and our ber m u d a past u r e is ruined. W e d e m a n d a settlement on this, and a l s o something definite about the w a t e r question. Yours v e r y truly, TXZA STEWART MINA STEWART EVALINE STEWART STAY.
