Los Angeles, March 16, 1953* MEMO 1-733*1 E.C.R. Regarding the drilling of additional water well in shop grounds, Las Vegas, and transferring of water appropriation of 2.5 c.f.s. owned by the LA&SL from Well No. 1 in the water field to the existing shop well and proposed new shop well: Upon investigation I learned that our Division forces submitted recommendation for 1953 Improvement Budget to drill a 16” water well in the shop grounds with booster pump, 300,000 gallon elevated water tank with necessary pipe lines estimated to cost $116 ,600, of which amount $112,1|.60 is chargeable to Investment and $lj.llj.O to Operating Expenses. This was included in 1953 approved Budget as Item No. 15. However, the Division*s estimate was increased by $5400 and the Budget authority covers $117* 5*4-0 to Investment fl|460 to Operating Expenses and total $122,000. Accordingly the Division submitted Form 30 on January llj., 1953* requesting authority to proceed with the installation of these improvements but to date approved work order has not been issued to cover. I am attaching draft of proposed letter to Mr. Stoddard for Mr. Reinhardt*s signature as you suggested. Will you please look it over, making any changes you consider necessary and return it to me.
