Engr. Clauson that it is their intention to install fire protection systems in their 1-umber yards consisting of standard fire hydrants, and as 6"x6"x4" tees are being install­ed in our pipe line to serve these industries, and that a meter is to be installed at the expense of the industries, it would appear that consideration should be given to the installation of separate water connection for domestio and other uses independent from fire protection lines, particularly as the cost of the 4" meter would probably be objected to by them, and in case of a fire, no doubt water required should not be charged for at the same rate as water for other purposes. should pay for the water line from the main to the lease line, in eaoh case placing the meter just outside the lease line, per­mitting the industries to extend the 4" line to their fire hydrants and making a 3/4" or 1" connection mestic and other requirements. with meter for do­Lessees will pay for meter, as well as for water line connections from the main supply line. and no doubt you will wish to give them consideration. I feel we should oo-operate with the Lessees in every way possible in fire pro­tection matters, as a serious fire in these yards would materially effect railroad operations.
